Interesting design..similar to others but those sides look really tall.
I know they do. The front does go up higher at the beginning. Next ones might be a little lower, but the crossbars are about 1-1/2” off the roof. Version 1.0.

Just ambient, sorry. This cheap one is for air temp or fish tanks, hah. I use the wifi OBD & app combo to check engine temp/etc, but would like to eventually add a scangauge for that, and trans temp...

Nothing too terribly exciting compared to what else is going on round here. Guess that's what happens when you get a vehicle already in great shape. Not to be deterred though, there were a few cosmetic items I needed to take care of.

First up, getting rid of this useless cubby thing.

I'm sure that's not the last money I'll be spending on Wits End as his site has lots of nice goodies.

Next up, I'm missing a lot of the fancy wood trim panels. I'm ok with that as I am most assuredly NOT a fan of wood trim. However, the glue left behind is rather annoying.

I haven't vinyl wrapped anything in a long time, and wasn't great at it, but it's a nice way to dress things up. I'd previously seen some nice brushed metal black vinyl and wanted to try it. I figured I'd try on the wood around the window/lock switches first.

I'm not overly happy with it. Because of the straight line pattern it really shows where I'm not good at stretching the vinyl uniformly and ends up with some waves in places. Also, when the sun hits it, it's a very annoying bright silver color. I'll likely chalk this up to practice and try something else. Also, I noticed the door trim is wood with black paint over it around the buttons, and some of the paint is worn off. Might have to rectify that as well.

Also, I kinda broke the clock trim. I also need practice on these contours. I went back and watched some more videos and feel I can do better next time. Also, my hand was shaking when cutting and came out badly. Will redo later.

And then there was this annoying thing. Someone did a good job with the foam stuff but really, the part is cheap. I've done a lot of fiche reading to order parts for my motorcycles but a car fiche is a different animal. This gave me some experience looking up and finding parts I need. I found the part number, checked ebay and found I could get a used one for $17 or I could order a new one for $20. Franklin Toyota had the best price to my door so they got the order. It's like 20 miles each way through Dallas traffic to get to my nearest dealer so I'd rather pay shipping than deal with that.

I've been making a list of tiny things that need doing. It's going to be a fun truck.

wanna sell that original insert?

You're going to have MUDders clamboring for those old cloth seats. If they weren't so hard to ship, I'd be begging you for them :o

haha, i hope so. I'm probably going to have a complete seat set i'm going to need to get rid of since i have no storage space. condition is very nice, with the only exception the front seat bottom sides starting to crack but pretty incredible considering their age. the truck had seat covers on it since new, they were removed about 5 years ago for the first time.

I've got a couple/few laying around. PM me if you are interested. Hell, I'll probably give them to you if you pay shipping...
Send him the pic of yours. If it's nicer, than mine he might want it, otherwise I got him covered.

Of course, I could shoot his address to everyone that has one and we can flood him with useless cubby's. :D

Yea while everyone else is locking down, Ive been here

I was just surprised to hear BG shout you out. His impression was pretty spot on.😜

Damn fine video you put together there. Easy to see the amount of effort.

Are those the Corbeaus that were on Craigslist? Nice score!

negative, i ordered these direct.

EDIT - was curious so i tracked them down https://offerup.com/item/detail/930793263 but no these are not the same. i didn't go crazy with options and was about the same price including sliders etc shipped brand new without farts. but, had i known these were available i'd probably have grabbed them.

Nothing fancy. Rear latch handle broke. New mechanism and plastic handle.

Also found this cool LED adjustable light with a built in Bluetooth speaker. Has a hook on the bottom side that slips over the latch handle perfectly. Great for camp lights and tunes.
