What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (114 Viewers)

Here's what I am seeing with my calibrated eye ball unit... I will have to get my level out and double check. I am also thinking my front springs are worn out.... I have put adjustable bars on all the rigs I have lifted so far. This ole girl came this way and I have not gotten around to rebuilding the suspension just yet. That said there is a lot of value in proper alignment of your axles...

So jealous you can run 15s. This is the best wheel/tire setup for the 80. I have to run the +1" version of your setup.

I love the KO2's, I was planing to run those but switched to the MTR's because Goodyear gives a killer discount to Veterans

Oh really, where do go?

The LC had been sitting for a while and I finally sold the 4Runner. And sent the LC over to Scott @Cruiserhiggs at Avid Offroad. He took good care of the LC and got it running a lot better and installed my blue fan clutch too.

Today I did a drain and fill on the LC's transmission. Plus I greased the U joints, slip joints, the rear trailing arm bushings, and the johnny joints. For the grease, I used Lucas Oil's heavy-duty grease designed for heavy equipment. So far I am pretty impressed with the results. Time will tell how it holds up over time and abuse.

I will never buy MTRs ever again. They dont balance worth a damn. I struggled with them. I balanced at Firestone over 10 times with my unlimited balancing. They got tired of me and did 1 last bal on a RoadForce machine. Didn't help.

I then balanced them myself at my buddies shop using his Snap on balancer. Worked for a week before they got unbalanced again. finally went with 10oz tire beads and that helped but it still vibrated like crazy at 65-70. Sold them and and will never get MTRs again. They also suck in the snow.

Dang, I always heard the guys in the motor pool.had a hard time balancing the mil spec ones. Mine have been great. I will still switch to KO2 next time because of the performance in snow and ice, plus I got over 40k miles out of my KO2's

3" and sitting on 315's. I did the @Delta VS rear panhard correction bracket last year but all I did on the front was put new OEM bushings in it.
Unboxed about $1600 worth of glorious new Toyota parts sent to me from Dave at Japan4x4! What a great day it was. I think I may have OCD for Yota parts in them nice red and white boxes. Its a sickness I know. All I can say in my own defence is "Down with Chinesium Land Cruiser parts"!! Started the rebuild video of the starter motor.

This is what my 125 part numbers looks like.

How long have you been ordering parts from Japan4x4? I am interested in ordering some parts from them but do they only deal with OEM parts or what else can they do?

First purchase was spring '19. Dave from Japan 4x4 helped me track down the correct rear rotors for the JDM 80 and brake flex hoses, etc. These particular part numbers were never sold in North America so I put my faith in him after a recommendation from Cruiser Dan long ago. Could not have done this without his help. I have found that the converted price from YEN to Dollars in most cases, yes I did say most cases turned out to be less than half the cost for the same part in the USA! Only a couple of weird exceptions like rear sliding window and sun roof weather stripping is cheaper in the USA. Do your home work for price comparison's. I used Toyota Parts Online | Olathe Toyota Parts Center as the reference for prices in the USA. To help Dave out, I collected all the Toyota part numbers I needed from MegaZip - Genuine OEM Parts From Japan, USA, UAE | Online Store, just entered my frame number and up comes all the parts for my truck! I just sent him the list of numbers in a spreadsheet and about three weeks later, I have my parts. What could be simpler? Shipping options are fantastic and I can base the delivery on my own urgency and cost of shipping. Many, many OEM parts that Toyota USA claimed are unavailable are now in my shop! Dave is a really great guy to work with too and he will search for aftermarket stuff too. I will always go back to Dave at Japan4x4

true story ! it was not fun to do it. I'm not sure what was worse: getting the part in or trying not to fall on the ice. But its replaced, as well as the upper rad hose and best of all the silly stock temp gauge works!Thankfully nearly 20 years at Southwest Airlines has given me enough nice cold weather clothing.

Interesting. Never had an issue balancing any of the different sets of MTRs I've had. They actually took less weight to balance than almost any other tires I've had. Still my favorite tire in terms of performance. I agree, they are not good on hardpack snow, unless you have them siped. Siping still won't make them awesome on hardpack snow/ice but noticeably better.

Where does the other end of the grounding strap from the battery attach, and why did you think is was needed? I'm working on a Wits End quarter panel assembly and am a little worried about just using the body as grounding for the air compressor and amp.

I see another one on the hoist point.

I had some extra strap laying around so I added them to the mix. I needed a good ground to improve my Ham and CB standing wave ratio. Other than that, its total overkill. I have several points. One from the battery, one from the engine hoist, one from the body all meeting at a bolt near the ignition coil. I also added one at the back behind the rear bumper joining the body to the frame.
