Got it going finally. I put a new coil in it, still no workie.. then checked grounds and plugs at the ECM and that got it going.

Drove over to my truck to pack up some stuff and check fluids. Had a bad tranny fluid leak, so I buttoned that up and a couple bolts. Time to break it in.

@DannyG, how did you go about removing the stickers? I have the same project ahead of me...
JP,
Heat gun, plastic scraper and Goo Gone.

Heat gun and scraper did most of the work. Used the Goo Gone and some heat to remove the.. well goo ;)

Tried to clean out the grease/sludge in the front axle. Hard to get it clean so I am going to pull the third and do it right. Might as well as the axles and birfs are being replaced.

Quick unexpected flight and a short drive in another 80 to see this.

Haven’t done much or even driven my 80 much since pismo because I have this weird shimmy at certain speed. My steering wheel is mostly centered but the shimmy has been driving me crazy after the big hit at the Dunes.

buddy from work led a quick trip to the snow so I said F it and went anyways, what an amazing day! Snow condition and weather could not be better even if I called the big guy controlling the weather! Some of you know which lake in the last 2 pictures. Snow was quite deep at spots and very fresh, got stuck when trying to let another rig through and got pulled out by a Jeep, he has brand new 37s though.:hillbilly:

after the snow I took the 80 to get the tires balanced again because of the shimmy and the tech found one of my wheels is severely bent! I’m actually quite happy that I found the problem and it’s not suspension! Woot!

While pulling the distributor off my parts LX today, I noticed it still had the original plug wires it left the factory with in 1996 . It was running up until I bought it a year ago. Not too shabby to get 23 years and 235K out of a set of wires. OEM may be a bit more expensive but it is hard to argue the quality👍.

Got my rear RCVs from @cruiseroutfit mostly done. I did decide to take advantage of the extra dowel pins that come with the axles. I am picking up all new cone washers in the morning and I will button it up. Will have to wait a few more days for my new frozen rotors to show up so I can finish this axle. I still have to install the front RCV axles and birfs. After that and I install my newly West Texas Off-road built steering box with 105 goodies, the truck will be done forever. o_O.
