lol, ive got this going on as well...

We should start a thread, "whos got the PO401 blues"

Install a ScanGaugeII and pull the CEL bulb. That error code, for the money and effort, to me, is just too much of a PITA for the result.

Bring on the scolding!

@woodsman 44 I def got the blues!!! I don't think Sacramento would approve of this, but I love the idea!! I think I have a smog test in march....

Started off with a dry cleaning first, brushed everything, got as much lose dirt and grime off as possible. Then I pulled the breather, battery and battery tray for access. Started scrubbing with soap and water and finally with softscrub and degreaser and a heck of a lot of scrubbing with brushes. Found a really cool way to rinse everything (as I went) in a very controlled fashion. I used my airless paint sprayer with warm water. Did a bang up job and I didn't feel like I was dumping a ton of water on the bay. Got both fenders and firewall cleaned. Will start on the actual engine itself tomorrow, weather permitting. Got to get some better scrappers and wire brushes as it appears that PO let the valve cover oil leak go for 100k miles or so.. It just looks that way. :)

Did the gray wire mod and DS seatbelts fix. So much better and now door unlocks from 80-100 feet away!

Spaced the rago molle panels in a bit to make room for the axe and shovel.. Paired with the @LandCruiserPhil windows it works pretty well. Prop rod and latches make the lower part of the panels a bit useless for now. Smaller tools or lower profile stuff will have to go on the bottom. I just ordered some more quick fist clamps in some other sizes to see what I come up with.

Also my daughter got to drive my land cruiser. She is just learning and did great.. She said the Land Cruisers is so much better to drive than her mom's BMW. She said she wants one of her own.

So I have been tossing around the idea of having the LC professionally painted or just rattle canned.

I did the passenger rear bumper cover and a small section of the 1/4 panel.

And yes I am fully aware there are 2 fingerprints in the paint too. This is just the first coat of many.

I think it looks good, just depends on what you want out of it. Are you planning on doing things that are going to constantly scratch up the paint, or just a city LC that looks good. If your going to scratch/dent it up, its a lot cheaper to do it yourself and you can touch up places where needed

I do plan on wheeling it and use it as my DD. Touching it up won't be an issue when it is rattle canned.

So i also have this code, but I also know where my exhaust leaks are. Does this item hide the code from emissions? In a few yrs im taking me truck to Japan and I know I can't have any codes there

Why take your US Spec LC to Japan? When I was in the Navy I had a few friends bring their cars to Japan and it was $5000 to register it. Just save your money and buy a JDM Spec LC.
