OEM hood-side ball sockets are 12mm. I fint it difficult to believe it would be an SAE wrench size with metric attaching threads. Maybe your 12mm spanner wrench is sloppy?
Got 'er done just now with the 12. Guess I just needed the reassurance it was the right tool for the job.

How was it leaving the steering wheel in place to sew the new one on? Did you use the single or double needle method

With wheel on, Its rough, but doable...I used single needle.

Loncky has a video to help out on youtube, not great but it helps...

Nice! You have adequately displayed why I carry an axe, folding saw and am considering a chainsaw. :)
dewalt 20volt chainsaw with mcCullough bar rules, and I already carry the 20v impact.

That's what I'm thinking. I have the 20v setup for drill and impact already. What difference does the McCulloch bar make?

Did you find the genesis of the death wobble??
Pretty sure it started with worn track bar bushings. I've replaced the tie rod ends and bent tie rod, it's got new tires, and the knuckles are getting rebuilt. Should be good to go.

FWIW, I've put about 30k miles on the 80 since I bought it, and I'm not sure how long it had been since any of these parts were serviced.

the only difference I guess is it makes it legit. with a 6ah battery it will make an entire tree into firewood.

I stay on my frame and all welded pieces to make sure theres no hairlines etc. and because this was a cailfornia truck living in the nrotheast Im ALWAYS wire wheelling and staving of surface rust. so its when I go over all the welds.

Gotcha. I'm eyeballing the 12" model as I don't think I'd need much more.
