Reminds of all the cheap guys bitching about that cost of a production bumper. Fab'n takes time. Looks great!
Exactly. In my thread, I mentioned it was not worth all the time i had into it. Its “cool” to have your own design, but if you have any design flaws or change of plans, or figure out what you were making/saving on an hourly scale, it doesn’t make sense. I would have gone Delta if i had to do it over again.

That being said, the bumper is very strong. It yanked a suburban out of the snow and mud with a strap(not the bungee type) with dozens of hard yanks. Not one bit of movement. Gives me some satisfaction.

I love mine. Been used many times (on others of course ;) ) These are so much better than the factory tow loops.

Agree the TT are heavy duty but nothing wrong with OEM. I have seen factory points take an incredible amount of abuse without failure.

True, I've seen the OEM ones take a lot of abuse as well, but I've also seen them fail. The OEM ones are better than tying a strap to your bumper, that's for sure, but the TT ones are a nice upgrade IMO.

Curious on what was the failure point on the OEM you have seen?

New video by Land Cruiser Phil OEM in use and this happened several times.

I've seen two failures first hand so that's all I can comment on. One was shearing of the hardware, which could be attributed to then not being tightened properly which would be problematic for any recovery point. But I've also seen one that the round bar broke. The round bar split and spread open along the break. There was some rust on the broken surface which would show that it had been cracked at some point earlier. Not sure how that happened, from a collision or a recovery, I don't know. Wasn't my truck in either case.

I've seen a few OEM ones that bent/twist/stretched from hard recoveries. Didn't break but deformed

Threw on an OME medium and went to Moab for some camping. Played around on the entrance to Cliffhanger and realized why so many people pull the flares and mud flaps.

Was still amazed the 80 was able to make it up some rock steps on open diffs. My FJ Cruiser would have struggled with the locker and atrac.

Now the question is.... Do I fix it all, go flapless, or go flareless?

Mine are the hoop type and look nothing like that.

I was talking about the shipping tie downs that many use for recovery. Those are what I've seen fail. To be honest, I don't think I've every seen those recovery points in that photo

Yes we agree. Nothing at all against TT heavy duty recovery hooks as they are much heavier duty than stock, look cooler, and many like and want that comfort. My point was for that guy without them not to worry if needed. Personally I dont ever want the need for any recovery point:grinpimp:

Found a square TPMS that fits nicely in my unused factory cigarette lighter port. It almost looks like it belongs there.

I just installed it so don't have any long term feedback but it seems to work fine out of the box. Has adjustable high/lo pressure alarms as well as displays temperature and voltage. The sensors are wheel specific and replace the valve stem caps. I think they will be fine for street use but could be knocked off off-road.

Also mocked up an inverter/air compressor cabinet that will go on top of the 1/2 drawer system I just finished. The open area to the left will house electronics (solar charge controller, circuit breakers, bus bars, etc.) and the drawer at the bottom is for air fittings, hose, and accessories. Hope to get it glued up this coming weekend.

I think the Insight is a little worried about becoming lunch now. Thanks @NateMob for the great deal!
