Well, I finally got off my ass and did the rear shelf DIY. I did the hose clamp method but will be upgrading to the @Delta VS brackets. Installing the rear shelf by yourself was a pain but I eventually got smart and supported it with a 2x4 while I attached the hose clamps.

From the above pictures, you can see my spare is in the main compartment now. When I was at Discount Tire last time to get the tires rotated I asked them to try and remove the spare but they were unable to. So I also got around to removing the rear spare tire by unbolting the cross member and the brackets from the frame.

Most importantly the wife and I went to Prescott to see some dogs and learn about the Belgian Malinois which will be our next dog. Mainly as a service animal for me. While up there we stopped at Barn Star Brewing in Skull Valley. It is run by a husband and wife on their small farm. It is only open during the weekend as they brew the beer during the week. Beers run about 5 for a small mason jar and are definitely worth it.

We also took our little guy and he met some ponies/little horses.

Belgians are great so are Dutch be ready for high energy

Thanks, it was a pain in the ass to build, but does its job. I doubt i would ever make another one, hopefully I don’t have to, i prob have 100 hours into it.
Reminds of all the cheap guys bitching about that cost of a production bumper. Fab'n takes time. Looks great!

Nice, mind detailing your cleaning method for the tracks and gasket

50/50 mix of simple green and a cloth towel on the gasket and tracks. Tilting the sunroof up gives you access to the majority of the gasket and straight back gives access to the front of the gasket. Clean until 20 years of grime stop coming off. There is also a rubber seal under the back of the sunroof on the sunroof frame. Any rubber on this car gets cleaned then some Sil-Glyde.

For the tracks I could only clean what I had access to. You'd have to remove the entire thing from the vehicle and disassemble to clean it the right way. I watched the sunroof move a few times to find the sliding surfaces. A brush could have been used to clean old, and spread new, grease but I did not do that.

Heavy duty penetrating grease is some pretty awesome stuff. Sprays liquid but sets up as a grease. With PTFE and tolerance for a wide range of temps. Great for getting grease where you normally can't and stays there. LOTS of applications.

So I sprayed that on the tracks and the lifting mechanism for the tilting function and then just exercised the sunroof.

Lubed the tracks for the sunshade too as the motor drags that back too when you open the roof.

The result: quieter, smoother, and a tad bit faster.

Out with the old, in with the new. Replaced both arms as one was pretty badly bent and all the bushings were garbage. Drives WAY better already, doing an alignment for toe-in ASAP. Went with the Landtank 4" plates purchased from @NLXTACY on a TJM 50mm lift (against the better judgment of @landtank  ) Will report caster results in this thread when done: Compiling/comparing lift and caster data

Sandy Beach is always a good one. Been awhile since I was out there but like you said, it's a nasty rock garden and it stretches all the way through a slot canyon. Not friendly to full body rigs. Sand surface doesn't help either and going back out is uphill.

Is there a build thread for this bumper somewhere? 😎

This would be the second build of my High and Tight...working on a jig the end of the month, hopefully rolling it out sometime. More pics in my build thread.

"Modernized" the 80 with some LED switchback bulbs on the front corner marker. Me thinks Mr. Toyota should have made this standard from the factory considering the safety benefit.

Easily on the top 5 best safety mods I've done to date. Having the corner markers act as DRLs and blinkers makes for greater awareness to other drivers.

Steps documented

Special thanks to @pandathrust and @Dissent for the great idea
