What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (18 Viewers)

Spent some quality time this weekend implementing some much needed maintenance items. Cooling system had been s*** going up hills. Often had to stop to let it cool once the scan guage read 225 F degrees.

Started Fri and wrapped it all up by Sunday. Actual work time ~ 8 hours. Afew headaches along the way - drilling out 4 out of 7 screw on the oil pump cover, pulling the radiator out without removing the battery box to name but afew. Initially, I'd thought the crank bolt would be the worst of them all, but given the fact that I had the radiator out, getting the impact wrench in there made it a breeze.

End results: Immediate rewards project. Cooler temps on hill climbs, better sounds from the engine bay, no more oil drips on the garage floor.

Been running a Labs rear with no swingout and the spare inside. Got a little tired of the room the spare was taking up so snagged a used Wilco Hitchgate Solo this morning. The original owner modified it for high clearance bumpers so it worked out perfect. Pretty happy with it so far.

What size tires are those? They look to fill the wheelwells much better than my 315/75/16s.

I am assuming you mean the drive indicator? If the light wasn’t working and it is now it would be a loose connection. Troubleshooting I would check all the connections on the back of your instrument cluster. Do you have a ohm meter?

No man, I replaced the bulb.

It's a super common issue with old 80s, there is an entire 25 page thread about it...

tried to install my ARB bulbar; long story short, I need an 1/8" more width out of the ARB mount channels, or an 1/8" less width out of my 2 front frame rail stubs. Any ideas? The front lateral bracing makes me think that moving the front frame rails is going to be the hardest option(and I really don't want to just start swinging a sledge at them)
Hydraulic jack and some 6x6 to "spread" the ARB mount channels?
'94 FZJ80. No accidents on Carfax, and OEM bumper is pretty straight., no evidence of damage to the ARB.

I have heard this multiple times about the ARB bumpers. People have either used a heavy ratchet strap to pull the frame rails closer and some have gone as far as beating the frame rails with a large hammer.

Dang, I would call ARB and confirm specs on the bumper. Also car fax is a load of crap. If you pay cash it doesn’t get reported, also anything under $1500 doesn’t get reported... I learned all this the hard way after buying an Audi S4 that ended up needing almost the entire front clip replaced...

Pulled apart my power steering reservoir to rebuild it and found the screens disintegrated. Off to buy a new one now. Then I spent 4 hours of the most ridiculous effort to replace power steering hoses attached to the reservoir. The lower one sucked so much to reinstall. Replaced my fan with a new OEM one while I had it out. Installed new OEM clamps which are cake when they are new, just position and pull the red clip and they snap into place.

I also pulled my headlamps and grille then installed new relays and ran wiring to finish my @kelly saad 7" headlight and grille conversion on Tuesday!

Same here. I used the sledge hammer method to bump the frame while holding the bumper against it. Slid right on after a few whacks. Heard about the ratchet strap method after and felt stupid for not thinking of it.

Installed ScanGaugeII.
Zip tie fix for shakey mirror.
Cleaned Okole front seat covers.
Adjusted hood to square.
Replaced heater valve.
Installed OEM hood insulation pad and clips
Wits End Parts Installed:
Diff plugs, Trans. plug, Center diff., plastic nuts for rear door entry tread, engine little hose kit, radiator hoses, curved heater hose kit, all constant torque hose clamps, fuel filter.

Kind of a big weekend maintenance-wise.

Finally got a chance to go to the desert and do all the desert things. Drove on the dunes for the first time, busted an exhaust hanger trying to find cacti, overall good times. Excuse the large amount of pictures if possible.
