PS caliper was fully compressed before I even removed it. Not doing a thing.

Then the day just went right down hill. NAPA had both calipers in stock. DS caliper had the mounting threads painted over so bad it took almost an hour to get the threads to take. Went back to NAPA looking for a tap, no luck. Went to Advance Auto, no luck. M12x1.25 not included in my Harbor Freight set. Finally took an impact to it and got lucky it threaded properly. Mount it up and realize things look off. Spend an hour messing with it. Another trip back to NAPA and seems the wrong caliper was in the box. Pretty much wasted the whole day and now can't finish till Monday when they get a replacement caliper in. I have new pads already, now considering new rotors too just to have it done while I'm in there.

Can anyone say if this little box and wiring is stock? It's on the Cammo cruiser and squeaking constantly as I drive. It did have an aftermarket alarm installed, wondering if this is part of it.

Last weekend, the wife bought a new camper. This weekend, we dragged said camper up to NW Wyoming to work out the kinks.

We bought and sold a very similar a-frame camper last year without ever using it because the tow weight did not agree with the 80. This time, the 80 pulled it like a champ. 70-80mph across most of Wyoming and no lower than 60-65 on the worst grades and headwinds. I flogged the crap out of the 80 to keep the speed up, but I'm still amazed at the performance.

Now we have a Hiker Trailer to sell--any takers?

:edit: Oh yeah, fusible link burned out the morning after we got back home. I got in the truck to put the camper back in the garage and it wouldn't start. Nice of it to wait until we got home. In a rare bit of foresight, I actually had a spare (2 spares!) on hand. :)

Did you get an A-liner? Which model? Any more pictures of it?

Did you get an A-liner? Which model? Any more pictures of it?

Yes, it's an A-liner scout I think? 10' box, basically the smallest and most stripped down one they sell. Wife has more pictures, Ill see what I can get. Our previous one had a fridge, water tanks, furnace and microwave (obviously, none of which would work without shore power), and I think that was the last little bit of weight that made the truck say "**** no." This one only has empty cabinets and a sink that just dumps out on the ground (I lobbied hard for urinal designation).

Finished getting my round headlights kit from @kelly saad installed.. did some maintenance... But forgot to check my spark plugs.. Which showed up on our way to San Diego. But a spark plug change and we made it.
Had to valet my Landy at the Del Coronado too. The guys could not figure out what it was..

Finally going through some of the pics from the last event and spliced together a good one. Same obstacle with my 80 vs a Jeep with unknown mods. This trail definitely pushes mine to the edge of flexing. My rear tires rub the inner fender wells in a couple spots. I'm running Ome 850/860 on fox 2.0s with the sway bar disconnected Fwiw. Also, I think he was trying to take the difficult path lol.

What I did, pulled the tent off and cargo carrier and basket to put it back in the garage. Strapped on a burrito box to the exhaust, haven't used it yet though, hopefully the heat is right with the insulating wrap

Got into some rust work and a rebuild of my rear bumper area. I decided that I am going to pull the spare tire cross member tomorrow and just do this whole rear section of the frame area and I have to get into a can of Bondo to patch up the rear most lower portion of the body(I will eventually cut this out when I get an aftermarket bumper, but that might be awhile and not having this rot any more than it already has is worth it.)

I got the old stuff off and had to drop the muffler resonator pipe, but I was able to get everything pretty well cleaned up and coated with Chassis Saver. I am going to go a little further tomorrow and touch up some of the nooks and crannies with my long handled tooth brush on a piece of copper pipe invention. One end has a stiff little wire brush that is great for trenching out built up rust and gravel, road scuntz, etc. and the other will work great for slathering the epoxy paint into the frame and all of the other little spots a normal brush can't reach.

I also painted a bunch of the hardware and bracketry. Those will look good and hold up for good.

I have two full sets of rear bumper cladding and I will pick the best two and then paint them tomorrow. All of the innards of the rust free set I bought have already been prepped and painted for months. I am also going to reinstall the trailer hitch, which is like new now, so that I can haul my bikes back there.

Close to crossing another project off the list...:)

Been a busy weekend so far... And I still have tomorrow off :).

  1. New shoes - Toyo Open Country AT2 285/75 R16's (local tire shop matched Amazon price so that saved me $50/tire)
  2. Tightened front wheel bearings to 25ft/lb inner nut, 47 ft/lb outer nut
  3. Topped off knuckles with moly grease
  4. Replaced all bushings in front control arms and panhard with OEM
  5. Cleaned front axle breather fitting
  6. Replaced rear end caps on running boards
  7. Added rechargeable motion sensing LED light bar to flip up window

New shoes

Picture1.jpg

Replaced control arm bushings. HF 20 ton press wasn't cutting it (safely) and so I pushed out the rubber with the press, used a sawzall to notch a section of the bushing sleeve, and then chiseled out the notch section. The old bushings practically fall out at that point.

Bushings Out.jpg

Running board end cap part numbers (because so many of us are trying to save our running boards :D)

IMG_9858.jpg

Rechargeable light bar for LCP window. It came with internal mounting magnets that weren't worth crap, but I epoxied several neodymium magnets to the back and it holds tight to the adhesive metallic strip that came with the light.

The motion sensor works great! Open the side window or the rear hatch and the light comes on and stays lit as long as you are present. Close the window/hatch and 20 seconds later the light goes off. Motion sensor does not activate through glass, so walking around the vehicle won't set it off.

This is the light I used: https://www.amazon.com/Rechargeable...538961636&sr=8-3&keywords=78+led+closet+light
