3fe in a 91. New to me. 146k white, Was at the shop this week and replaced diff fluids, valve cover gasket, adjusted valves, exhaust and intake manifold gaskets, radiator, hoses, thermo, cap, and more. Next week driveline gets checked for the clunk when shifted to reverse, and tune up. Power steering pump from dealer is 600 bucks, that is going to wait a bit, just a slow leak. ordered all oem tune up parts -
I was under the impression that the driveline clunk when shifting from drive to reverse was normal on my 91. It has always done that. If it bothers you let the truck roll a couple inches in neutral when your shifting and the clunk will go away

what did i do this weekend with the 80??

It was a very intense weekend with a lot of driving

On Thursday I drove the first time to work to test it it was ok

From work I drove 150 miles to the south to my son army base for the for the GI Oath ceremony he is to be in Search & Rescue unit

Since I am a veteran, I was granted a permission to take my rig into the army base

I parked my rig near an old 4X4 army ambulance closer look i saw AK47 bullet holes in the wind shield I was told that this was left there as remainder our first responders what will happen if they will rush into the scene before the tactical team will clear the place a doctor and paramedic were killed

Friday morning I drove to the dead sea and Judea desert my friends were already there and I am going to meet them in the night camp

I stopped on the way to fuel at the last gas station before going into the desert and I met my old friends Shosho and Jony the tourist camels

IMG_8022.JPG

Shosho was a little bit depressed and down so we had a chat

We have a saying "to go on the camel to take pictures is free but to go down it will cost you 10$"

It was all most night so I headed into the desert alongside the Dead Sea

Clunk is normal. It's just letting you know it's there!

Got in a hike with Ruby at 13F this AM. Hard to believe it was 63F just 36 hours ago.

I LOVE that tailgate storage with the factory carpet, is there somewhere I can get more details on the install (carpet specifically)?

Solved a long time problem with leaking axles. Did not notice the grooving I had on the oem axles. Purchased an offset tool from Witsend.

Drove the seal in and the offset tool worked like a charm. Hopefully I won’t have to replace the seals every 1500 miles!

What a long Friday!

Just want to thank @NLXTACY

Had power steering pump leak and used a Bar’s product which swelled the seals right up, stopping the leak. Worth a shot.

yep, I have heard the same too, but also that clunk can be related to u joints, proper lubrication, etc. Just going through her for the first time, so it's probably the right thing to rule out other issues which might present with the clunk, even if fixing them does not eliminate it. So I guess the more specific question is "is the reverse clunk related to anything that needs to be fixed?" or " how much clunk is too much?" Specific to my clunk is that there is none when its cold. Only acts up after things get to operating temp, hopefully its nothing but the norm.

Drove up to Apple Valley to pick up a set of sliders from White Knuckle.

Craftsmanship is excellent along with John and Co's customer service. Can't beat the price either. Highly Recommend.

I really like these, I'm in the market for some and these sliders are at the top of the list for me. If you dont mind let us know how easy they are to get installed and if they make a decent step? My wife is really pressuring me into getting something to help her get in and out.

Took my fam out wheeling. Went to saguaro lake then widowmaker at sycamore. Lotta people out there, kinda crazy.

Took a pic of an old school suburban flopping it’s way up the hill, shows you just how deep the channels are. I’ll try to post a pic from me going through it.

Figured out a half ass way to post a pic from it.

Some of the chutes will have ruts from side to side and can easily be 2-3’ deep. They’ll pitch you into the wall of the chute and scrape you up or cause a landslide on to you if you’re unlucky. It’s it very steep but it is fun. My kids were freaking out at first, I gotta kick outta that.

Piece of cake. Standard dimensions, they are tucked pretty close to the body and are okay as a step. Asked when ordering and they can change the angle slightly if you are after more surface for feet.

Been away for awhile. A lot of transformations to my FZJ80 since I bought it stock almost a year ago with new ARB front bumper, 10k winch, LED light bar, custom built rear tire carrier swing out with jerry can holder, new 35” Cooper SST Pro, sound system, snorkel, rebuilt front axle, new ujoints, etc.

I just picked up a steering wheel from a wrecked Lexus LS400 that’s in great shape and got it installed today. I got lucky on this because I was going to pull the steering to take it to a leather restoration shop to have it done for $250. This wheel cost me $11 plus an hour of my time.

Finished up the Tuffy Console install. Want to thank MUD for once again having a solution!
Followed this thread exactly: How to: Install a Tuffy security console in your 80/81...
Used the Tuffy Series II 8” Console. Sku # 012
Painted it to match. Then bought a piece of leather from a local leather shop ($30) then had an upholstey shop stitch it up, also for ($30)!
This is honestly one of my favorite mods to date!
