It’s what I want. That’s what it is!
Edit: Well, I wanted it until it has the weak a$$ 4.7 in it. Ugh.
I'm betting the truck is light enough that it wouldn't matter.
Speaking of engine swaps, why not put an Audi 4.2L twin turbo into these beasts?

Because 750 hp, and it would still get better gas mileageYuck. Why ruin excellent engineering with something German?
Yeah. Everyone knows German engineering is the worst. . .Yuck. Why ruin excellent engineering with something German?

I wouldn’t take a German car if given to me. Been there. Done that.

You got a good point there.
Germans can engineer horsepower, not reliability.
Yuck. Why ruin excellent engineering with something German?
Correct. My S55 and M5 were incredible machines, as far as handling and go fast. Both had multiple warranty issues. Total combined miles between the two? 3700. Both were purchased new.
Add to that the diesel Beetle that my daughter had.
Never again.
Well that's an oxy-moron if I've ever heard one.
I'm assuming you missed a couple zeroes? You're comparing completely different vehicles with completely different purposes.

I was comparing German sports saloons vs. a Land Cruiser. It's akin to a hybrid driver aghast that anyone would drive a vehicle (Land Cruiser) that doesn't get 45+ MPG. It's not the point.
Yeah, the complexity required to yield that amount of performance comes with downsides, just as the off-road capability of a Land Cruiser has downsides.
Which is precisely why putting a “go fast motor” in a 6,000 lb “go anywhere and get back safely and reliably” vehicle makes absolutely no sense.
Couldn't agree more. It wouldn't be in my top 10 list for engine swaps into a 'Cruiser. But to say anything German is inherently poor engineering is a little silly.
Never once claimed it was... From the beginning my point was that you can't throw the baby out with the bathwater and say everything Germany ever produced is unreliable because your two were.
Should someone never buy a Toyota or ANY Japanese car before because their Yaris broke down?
I put approx 1600 miles on the S55. It was in for warranty work 5 Times. I put more miles on the loaner vehicles I had than the S55.
The M5 was less crappy. Only had it in 3 Times in 6 months.
