What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (101 Viewers)

The more impressive number would be how much money you lost when you traded your AMG and M in.

The M5 was in high demand and they were selling for over MSRP new. I had ordered mine before that stupidity started. So I only (I emphasize the only part) lost about $15k on it.

I traded the S55 back to the same dealer for a G55. They knew all of the headaches I had had so I didn’t take a huge bath. I just deferred the bath until I sold the G Wagon...

Between the three it was probably enough to buy another 80 Series. New. :bang:

You guys that far up north need winter beaters. You put too much time and $$$ in your rig to just let it waste away from you.

I put my 80 away, which sucks, to preserve it. Then I bought a beater 100 to get my daily cruiser "fix"

I should clarify my statement. My 80 doesn't suck, putting it away does.

It will get out a few times for some snow wheeling on our trails though.

Took my daughter's 80 out on the trails for some Bowfin Cruisers website pics though.

I painted my 97 with Monstaliner. Okay, it was a couple of weeks ago, but here you go.

Overall I really like it. I painted the rooftop box as well. It is some hella tough paint too.
Nice! Hindsight I wish I did mine in white over tan.

Correct. My S55 and M5 were incredible machines, as far as handling and go fast. Both had multiple warranty issues. Total combined miles between the two? 3700. Both were purchased new.

Add to that the diesel Beetle that my daughter had.

Never again.

I know the feeling. I swore so many times before I would never again get a German car, but I ended up lying to myself.
And guess who is pissed off at the Germans again.

Today my wife had it with her Lexus and wants to trade it in for a BMW.
As a lease it will be the best car the Germans made.
I drove a ton of loaners while I had my car in for repairs. At one point my neighbors were thinking I am involved in less than legal activities.

Looks like they left the hummer in the dryer too long..

Tomorrow or Thursday I should be getting a bunch of 2GA wire, Anderson Connectors and some other odds and ends in the mail.
+1 for ARB air down device. I've caught more fish b/c of that thing, you MUST air down on the beach around here and pray you don't miss the bite!

brush or sprayed?

I got after the oil pump gasket leak. The step where you put the breaker bar on the crank and bump the starter is certainly a leap of faith. The good folks at harbor freight comp’d me a new breaker bar and I upgraded to the 3/4” drive for attempt #2. View attachment 1598769
Oh man thats on my list and im starting with 3/4 as directed 1/2 wont cut it.

Damn that is some nice paint !

Thanks, but it is a bit like a car in a craigslist ad - looks great in pictures!

I started on a friday afternoon and had an overall paint job done by monday. Considering that, it is great.

British racing green. I had a P 38 that color. Strangely it didn't irk me as much as 6M1 which lasted less than a year on my cruiser.
