Fitted tailgate storage mod. Was going to order one from @reevesci but freight killed it. This mob started making them locally huracanfabrication, good quality and fast service, even to the back end of nowhere. I haven't been able to work on or drive the cruiser for 3 months now thanks to a little :censor: up at work, so to be able to finally do something, even just a simple mod like this was a huge step forward. Hopefully I'll be 100% by xmas, but can't rush anything when it comes to recovery. Getting plenty of frequent flyer points jetting back and forward to see my surgeon and therapist every week at least.

Lost about 6 pounds yesterday; 5 from perspiration in the garage here in Baton Rouge without air conditioning; one from cursing...

Most of the cursing occurred when trying to re-attach the straps...

Oil/Filter change. Finally got around to replacing my slipping AC belt. Tried adjusting, but it was hitting the end of the travel and still squealing. Replaced with 1 size smaller napa belt - will do all 3 with OEM when I have some time, but now the adjuster has some reasonable adjustment travel at least.
Also welded up the leaks that were in front of my 2 cats. Leaks were on both sides of the saddle brackets for the heat shields, of which only the outside one was still there - hose clamped and pretty much useless.

Welding on my back in the driveway sucks, but got it done and no leaks that I can see/hear. Total replacement put off for a little while now.

Decided to tackle an exhaust leak between the manifolds and the down pipe. I was hoping for the best, but no, that didn't happen

Long story, I replaced the cats a couple years ago with magnaflow parts. While the pipes were good quality, the gaskets were not. They blew out after a year or so. When R&R them, the nuts galled the studs. I managed to clean up the threads somewhat, but from then on the nuts would not stay tight. Fast forward to this weekend, new OEM studs and nuts in hand, I started taking things apart.

Two of the four nuts came right off. One siezed and snapped the stud, the other stripped half way off and had to be cut off. I then tried to weld nuts to the studs, but welding upside down just wasn't working. So off came the manifolds. That went surpisingly easy, but dang Toyota, did you really have to add an extra stud on the rear manifold?!?!? That one was a bear to get to.

So next step was to remove the old studs from the manifolds. They did their best not to leave, but a dozen 1/2" nuts and a welder got the job done:

I'm waiting on new gaskets to finish up the job. Looking forward to not hearing an exhaust leak :bounce:

Oh, and noticed that the AC system I just resealed is leaking :bang: The rear head on the compressor is weeping oil. New seal kit ordered for that job, maybe next weekend...

Girlfriend wanted to go camping this weekend for her birthday. We went up Redcone Pass, down to Webster Pass, went towards montezuma then hung a left and went up Radical hill (I don't know if id take anything wider than an 80 on Radical hill). We traveled south to the middle fork of the Swan River that goes to Breckenridge. It was an awesome trip!

I'm bummed we never had a chance to wheel together while you were in the Fort (my fault). All the best to you and your lady in Montana.
Thanks @mervo I'll be back at some point and we'll have to get out there. Just make sure to get out with @SmokingRocks @FJ40zen @sl3807 and the rest of the horsetooth 4 wheelers sometime!
