That's sketchy! I had my trackbar come loose about a year ago. It didn't drop out completely like yours but the steering was feeling loose. When I checked it the nut on the trackbar was hanging on my 2 threads. Glad you didn't have an accident! The torque spec on that bolt is insanely high (can't remember the spec off the top of my head) but crank it down TIGHT!
Yeah, I think it might have been installed by the PO or otherwise and never torqued down properly. I never really paid attention to it. The FSM (I still have it open on the lateral control rod page) says 127 ft lbs. Which is 2 less than the lower shock bolts on my WRX which I just swapped out coilovers this past weekend.

Finally all caught up on this thread! Work has been kicking my ass, every weekend it's something. Either I need to come in to the office or work from home.

Mother's Day I was driving to the Metallica concert with a cruiser full of tailgating gear and friends. As we're coasting along in traffic on the NJTP going about 30 MPH, the cruiser begins to violently shake back and forth and the tires scrub across the pavement. I muscle it off to the shoulder thinking something broke, and bad too. A quick walk around ruled out blown tire, so I got under the front to take a look at what might be the cause. Sure enough, there's the track (lateral?) bar hanging down.

No problem! I can "trail fix" this and be back rolling. Unfortunately I couldn't get the bar back into the frame mount and didn't have any pry bar or large screwdriver :bang:. Tried a ratchet strap but that didn't do it either. Tried to jack it up but the OEM jack just couldn't cut it. So I had to tow it. Friend from HS rode with me in the cab of the tow truck and the 3 dudes got to sit in my cruiser on the flatbed.

Needless to say, this weekend I'll be replacing the bushings in the bar and the bolts. This will then snowball into the overhaul of all the rubber underneath as most is cracked and or original.

Oh and yes, I need to do a full knuckle job but that will have to wait for now. (Sadly the kit is sitting on a shelf waiting to get installed, just need time)

The shop that fixed my Death Wobble issue went through all the bushings and where applicable drilled a hole with a pin in it to keep it from coming loose.

That's not a bad idea, especially for something like this bar.
It's like when they run the safety wire through bolts for race bikes and cars.

If they are torqued properly people don't seem to have problems.

Took my 93 in for an oil change. Forgot my Blackstone container at home so I didn't ask them to take a sample this time.

Get in my truck and see this. My first reaction was "WTF?!?! Left his drink in my truck?!?!"

Nah, no container so they filled a plastic cup for me.

A whole mess of made from scratch chocolate chip cookies
A courtesy Taco
And them remembering to pull an oil sample even though I forgot
$21 with tax.

Oh, and no Wix filter.

Do you have any pics? Did they drill a hole in the neoprene/rubber part of the bushing?

I'm assuming they would drill through the bolt AFTER the nut and put a cotter pin through. Not through the rubber. That wouldn't do any good.

There are multiple ways. Drill a hole for safety wire in the end of the bolt after the nut is torqued, drill one corner of the nut and anchor safety wire through that to another solid object so it can't loosen, etc.

They don't often drill through the bolt and nut as it would weaken the fastening system.

You're assuming. I'm requesting pics. I agree, drilling the neoprene/rubber may be detrimental to the life of the bushing.

I have always used safety wire to keep the bolt from turning. Never to tether the bolt...

Just asking. I am currently not experiencing death wobble...

OMGosh.... I just went through like the last 30 pages.... I feel like I'm in a time warp. I gave a buncha likes cause I like 80s.

There is no requirement to take the advice of others to heart. You were there, they weren't. I am old now and it took me many years to learn to emotionally separate what is of value and what doesn't matter. Keep the former and take advantage of it. Flush the rest!
Right! Let it roll off you as inconsequential and trivial banter from those who are unhappy with themselves. Live your life

I use to tell my Marines that they had to have "Rhino skin", because rhino skin is tough! Nothing penitrates it...... probably why they use the "Rhino" name in bed coating! ...... Don't sweat the small stuff! ....... F them! As long as your son and you had fun, that's ALL that matters!

Freeman park on the south side of Wilmington. Freeman Park is privately owned land leased by the city. It is a free-for-all down there. Lots of drinking and hooliganism. It was fairly quiet on Saturday but finding parking was still an issue.

Nice to meet you at Heaths house! Very nice 80! I told my wife I need to "get busy"!

I have the same LED's on my roof, super bright
