How are you going to clean the liner? It's on my list to do as well.

Going to try regular upholstery cleaner. From reading old threads you want to go easy (no scrubbing) just blotting and let the chemicals do the work. But I think you can't use too much or the backing will get too wet.

Your welds look really good Jose. I have a Lincoln 140 and when it's plugged into my 20 amp garage circuit, it rips pretty damn good. 6 years and I'm still using flux core. It's messy but it works in all conditions. I keep thinking of going to gas shielding but it never seems to happen.

Thanks, appreciate it! So far the 3link work is holding up and I haven't killed myself or a bus full of nuns. I agree about the 20 amp circuit, works great. I replaced the 15 amp breaker with a 20 amp at the new place. My old place had a 15 amp breaker and it seemed like it could never keep up, would trip the breaker often too.

I just realized how bad the welds on my front bumper "hoop" are Now I want to take it apart and reweld, spotty blobs f slag under paint. WTF:censor:

I grossly underestimated how much work this Arts n Crafts project was actually going to be.

Gussets/bracing, some fiddly bits, grinding, fully welding, more grinding, primer and bed liner still to go. The end is in sight?

You sure about that? I've been called out twice for not having timing set at stock.

Don't they just check the readiness state on OBD2 and CEL?

It's always noted on the report, so I dunno.

Page 6 of the 2013 Smog Check Manual (link here) shows what's required for each year. 1976-1995 are the years for which a functional check of the timing is required. It used to be that if a vehicle had adjustable timing or a specification on the underhood label, it had to be checked. Most techs probably default to that, so it might not hurt to bring a copy of that page out of the manual they're supposed to be following.

And reroute the exhaust

I am running a 110v Hobart 140. Great little unit and it's been trouble-free for the past few years. I know some will disagree, but I feel this welder is more than capable for any truck project you may have.

My whole truck is built with a Lincoln 135 and Flux core, including the cage project I'm doing right now. If you take your time, prep well, you will have no issues

To like, or not to like...that is the question.

Good to see you're still around, brother.

I learned that the snorkel can actually serve as a damage multiplier when leaned into a tree. Without it, I likely wouldn't have touched the tree. With it, the mounting studs from the snorkel appear to have deformed the fender.
