Bad design/metallurgy.. confirmed by the other people having issues. I'm pretty annoyed by this considering how long fox has been building shocks.
Wasnt really this weekend more like this week, ran the kokopelli trail during Cruise Moab. Top of the world and Rose Garden Hill.
I thought about it. I'm not very patient though TBH. I'm better off walking away and paying someone else to do it.
So this finally happened...

A few hours earlier and my ARB might been catching this little example of bumper fodder. It ran out in front of me but with daylight etc I had plenty if time to let it do it's thing....

Helped my son do some clearancing for his 40's on what used to be my 80. Welded up the flare holes too.
Put a 6 sided 15/16" socket on it. It fit perfectly. Tapped it on to be snug. Put the 20" long breaker bar and still got nothing. The socket backed itself off the bolt. Bolt is still in good shape. But I think it needs another bolt welded to it or a bar stock welded to it.
Bad design Toyota. Bolt has no surface area on the sides for a wrench or socket.
At least the Transmission plug and Oil pan plug came off ok. Not all was horrible yesterday. The front and rear differentials fill plugs are on good too. I can't get those off either. FML. LOL

Cold chisel and hammer. I was lucky but I've had some mudders I was helping that weren't lucky. It's just to get the plug started.

Nothing super exciting... In the process of chasing a mildly high idle - 2000 rpm @ cold start up, 800-1000 rpm at operating temp - changed out all the vacuum lines & new intake tube. Seems to have done the trick, somewhat. It's still hovering in the 700-900ish range at temp, but much better. Still addressing lots of 20+ year old parts R&R. Tuesday, it's off to Mudrak for knuckle & birf service.

For those having issues with the drain plugs.. Use a short socket and NO EXTENSION.. and as long of a breaker bar as you can get your hands on. The proper torque doesn't really require a breaker bar (how many are properly torqued when we get them though? I digress) but there is another benefit..
a long breaker bar and no extension puts the spot you pull on near the plane of the head of the bolt, dramatically reducing the tendency for the socket to want to "roll off" the head of the bolt.
Some will be too far gone for this to work but it maximizes your chances.
