Seems like a pain in the a$$ to deal with on some pretty expensive shocks. I'm guessing you guys aren't the only ones having this issue. Have anybof you called them to ask them? Maybe they've figured it out and have a warranty or recall?

I'd be pissed if I had to do all of this on newer shocks. I've never had this issue with any others. Maybe I've just been lucky?

Got to test out my rock sliders at work today...

Yeah, lucky you didn't buy Fox shocks lol. I've turned a lot of wrenches and replaced plenty of shocks and never had this happen. I'm going to have to address mine soon, so far only one has done it. It just happens to be the side where I'm hearing weird noises from too.

I've had that happen to a bilstien shock that I didn't get the shock seated and tightened down properly and it had the same marks in the threads. :bang:

What did I get to do to my FJ on my first day off in a long time. Got about 2 hours of wrenching on it before being cussed out by the :princess:. FML I can't get any time to work on this thing.

Read too many times @NLXTACY mention tightening axle preload on wobbly 80s. Got the passenger side done before getting rained out. Good thing, someone has been in there before and their work doesnt inspire confidence. No seal on the drive plate and the nut was noticeably loose. Probably going to speed up the timeline for a full axle job even though the birfs seem good.

My Australian field-find hammer was magic on popping out the cone washers.

Dropping in an OEM air filter to finish off.

You have a couple of options, as I see it:
A) Train your wife
2) Get a new wife

Problem solved.

Got the 80's interior all cleaned and vacuumed....just in time to get it all sandy again!

I may be a little biased, but my 80 always seems to be the best looking vehicle in any parking lot!!

My Dad always used to make us help him work on cars, now I know how to do lots of my own work. He is in visiting from Central America this month and next, so I already know when I get home he will want to go to the junkyard and go hunt parts down for whatever project he has down in Nicaragua currently. Its cool to sit down and talk cars with the old man (he is turning 70 this year). Hope your son enjoys it and treasures it even if he doesnt realize it now.

@Fj81 Thanks! I hope the same happens for me and my son (and daughters, too!) :)
