Great !

I lifted (4") my 92 and ran it that way for about 3 years. Didn't see a huge difference.

You can stuff 35s under a stock 80.

Personally, I think 33s under a stock 80 is perfect. If I need 1" more of clearance I don't need to go there.

That's very true especially after seeing what a stocker with no lockers and street tire's can do. BUT how do we feel adequate, fit in with the crowd and have larger private member without lift and big tires? Oh and don't forget about the dorkel.

Sorry if my post that got deleted made you guys uncomfortable. I spend a good portion of everyday in a swimsuit and I'm from Hawaii, so I'm less uptight about that I guess. Didn't mean to offend. It's just if I do anything with my Land Cruiser, 90% of the time I am in a bikini since it's primarily used for exploring beaches, and this is the thread for what our weekend adventures were with our LCs. Again, sorry for any offense taken.
Nothing to be sorry about..keep them coming.. I enjoy all the ur expeditions.. Never been to Hawaii so keep them coming for those who are stuck in the city. For those who are offended don't look! Cheers!!

I got all of those, so my "compensating" is complete, and lord knows I need it. :)

@LS1FJ40, Ohio is a little different than Utah. Maybe it's more like NorCal. I've used every inch of my clearance and wished I had more just going to the store. Plus I'm compensating.

Dorkel is key to a happy Cruiser!

Against my better judgement, i hauled this home to put in the lake. Needs some refinish and the diving board put back on.

It's mind blowing how many people still think that AWD or 4 wheel drive somehow helps the vehicle stop in slippery conditions over other vehicles. While not for my 80 series I have a set of dedicated snow and ice tires mounted on extra wheels for both my car and my wife's. Mind you they are both AWD. It took a little to convince her of the need even on her AWD CRV until she saw how well my car would stop and turn in the snow.

If you use engine braking on a 4WD/AWD it would stop a lot better since the slippage would be kept at a minimum. 2WD cars would have a harder time in the same situation. Locking up the wheels by braking hard would not help any car in any snowy/slippery situation.

I O W A not ohio.

I'm reporting your post to @Romer and @nuclearlemon as offensive and defamatory! :flipoff2:

Iowa, Ohio, Texas....whatever. They're practically the same.

Well I lived in Ohio 40 + yrs ago and it's Nothing like NorCal ... just a field and some trees and another field and some trees, but lots of mud, and utah is a great place , but have only been up in the High Uintas, mostly fishing for brookie and Cutts , but done some trails there too , etc. , every state you can find stuff to wheel on , and every state you can find to get stuck in or on I don't care how big a lift or "37's" ha you have.... so they all have their merit for wheeling ... I've lived in Colorado too and theirs great trails there ...I rode mostly dirt bikes back then ... if you remember Elsinore 125's ? ( I miss that bike ) ... anyway ... just for me I just don't need to "Crawl" anymore , I've been on the 'con too many times to count, dusy ershim, the hammers, etc. ... who cares ? but at 54, I'm just done with breaking something everytime I go out ... so more or less stock is fine by me ... the rest of you that want a lift and bigger tires , great ! but don't bash us that want our rigs the way we want them ! ya know ?

@onedaatmc, I'm not bashing the stockers, just @LS1FJ40.

There's a reason behind every change we make to these rigs and pros and cons that go with each. Some of the reasons are weak attempts to hide the 17 year old inside. Only the guy paying for the change knows why, and only has to answer to his own retirement fund. It's all good, I've just been stating opinions, and throwing in some friendly jabs for good measure.

Oh I know , I was just making sure the perceived pissing match didn't get wetter ... ha

Engine braking will never stop a vehicle as well as using the actual brakes. The brakes are designed to stop the vehicle utilizing all four wheels/tires to their maximum potential. Braking distribution through the differentials when using engine braking isn't nearly as effective. The only time engine braking will work better is when you're in a situation where the brakes may overheat.

btw , are running boards with the brackets worth anything to sell on cl ? I'd think they wouldn't be , but I don't know ...
