I'm running the BFG AT KO2's specifically because of how well they do in snow (snowflake rated). We run to and from the ski area pretty much every weekend in the winter and they have been doing great. Even when off roading in deep wet snow I was impressed.

Well I got rid of the running boards just now... they were easy ... they just seemed in the way ... sliders will come soon, but first is tomorrow for the OME Stock Height kit going on ....and I figured I wanted these off anyway and will make climbing under the LX easier tomorrow ...still need to remove those black plastic dealies under the rear door flares , but it's fine for now ...

well but I don't care to lift this one ... I've had 3 other lifted trucks and just chased fixes on all 3... lift, bigger tires, 5:29's, lockers, Marlin 4.7 t case, etc., etc. who am I to think I can over engineer the yota engineers ... no crawlin for me anymore , just finding the easier softer way to the trout stream ....and my original spring and shocks have 170k on them , so its mushy and saggy ....

Yeah, I've always run BFG AT KOs. Never had any complaints but I was listening to everyone else complain about them and how great the Duratracs are. But I'm sticking with BFG. The KO2s are even better than the original KOs and I've never worn out a KO. I've replaced them because of age before miles. I think I've only had 4 sets of tires on my 92 in 24 years/244k, all BFG ATs.

Yeah, that isn't much of an issue in Texas!
In retrospect, a stock height or 2.5 inch lift would have saved me a hoard of money. Lift it higher and you are regearing and installing a much more expensive lift kit so it will perform correctly off-road and on-road (Slee) ...which I did....both. On the flip side I have probably taken my truck places I couldn't get with a stock or 2.5 inch lift. It is an expensive trade-off.
then me, personally don't need to go to those places ... stock is fine ... it'll get me anywhere I want to go here in NorCal , etc.
I don't know, i think these trucks are supposed to be at that 2.5" lift height. Mine handled better, was more comfortable, and it wasn't extreme enough to need regearing, bigger tires, or anything more than the caster correction that comes in the kit. I vote that the 2.5" is the corrected stock height. Anything more than that and you can call it a lift.
Thats great ... sounds like your happy ! Awesome ... just for me I'm fine with stock height , which makes me happy ...

I wheeled mine stock from 1997 til 2010. It made me happy too. I only started modifying it because I was tearing the running boards off of it. I also wanted to improve my ability to avoid getting stuck in the mud.
At the time, someone very knowledgeable in the local cruising community told me that a stock height cruiser will do damn near everything one with a 4 inch lift will do. If you have a skid plate, sliders and a solid metal front and rear bumper and a winch and have no problems scraping rock now and then, that is probably true.....which means leaving it at a stock height is fine and cheaper. Mr. Toyota was pretty smart when he designed these things.

I lifted (4") my 92 and ran it that way for about 3 years. Didn't see a huge difference.
You can stuff 35s under a stock 80.
Personally, I think 33s under a stock 80 is perfect. If I need 1" more of clearance I don't need to go there.

Ha Ha ... well then swap the yota axles out for Unimog Portal Axles or 2.5 ton or even 5 ton Rockwells, put 53's on it and regear to 6:17... then you'll be cool !
I know the stock height OME will maybe lift the lx an inch ... and maybe it'll look dorky ... God forbid , lol ... but more clearance , more flex ...stuff those 31's deep ... ha
