New calipers and soft lines on the front. Is turning out to be a PIA to get them bled :frown:. Finally got the ABS to activate in a gravel parking lot and will try to bleed them again tomorrow. Pedal is mush currently.

being a wrench turner and not an analyst what does the iol report tell you?
This particular report is telling me that the higher than normal wear metals and the presence of potassium (antifreeze) that showed up in my previous report was most likely due to residual antifreeze that was left in the crankcase by the previous owner and his dealership "technician" when the head gasket was replaced in 2015. They did not change the oil after the head gasket leak was confirmed and repaired. I changed the oil when I bought it in January of 2016 and drove it 4500 miles. I then sent a sample of that oil to blackstone and it showed high metals and the presence of potassium. The report you see in my post is a follow up report 1100 miles later. It looks better.

The lesson here is that the oil must be changed following a head gasket replacement no matter the reason. This seems obvious to me.

Any pics of the sub enclosure?
Right now I'm just using the air trapped behind the panel . Its putting out way more bass sound than I want so I have it turned down to normal bass sound . Nothing is rattling and the panel is holding it solid in place . So for now nothing is behind it . I'm going to take it down to the install people and let them take a look at the space behind it and see what they can do . To make a enclosure behind it I'll have to cut a little more room out of the storage box but I should have cut the storage box straight back anyways and made the storage door cut out side the grill . I'm going to let the install people listen to the way it sounds now at the level I like it and see if there is even a need to enclose it more than it is being behind the panel . If I get one made I'll post photos . This is the woofer I got so if you know anything about woofers ,I'll take all the help I can get .MM1242DVC . Mine is the mm 1240 dvc . Here are some numbers for enclosures . They have 4 ways . minimum enclosure sealed 1.25 cu. ft . Maximum enclosure sealed 3.5 cu.ft. minimum enclosure Vented 1.75 cu.ft and Maximum enclosure Vented 2.25 cu.ft . If I figured right there is about 2.0 cu ft behind the panel . Since I'm sure air is escaping I'll have to say its vented ,so the way it is I think I'm in the 1.75 to 2.35 range if vented means air can escape but with in a 2.35 cu .ft. space . Maybe thats why I have plenty of bass the way it is .

A "vent" (or port) is an active component that is engineered to present a load to the woofer at a designed frequency. At that frequency, woofer excursion is reduced and most of the sound comes from the port. This is not that.

On top of the fact that the follow up report came back looking better, my engine runs very well and does not lose coolant mysteriously.

Oil analysis is good for finding out about an issue before it gets big and costly and it can also be used to help confirm there is no problem.

There are other reasons to use oil analysis which don't really apply to an indivual owner like us. I'm sure that, if you used analysis you would learn that you change your oil more often than necessary.

What you have is closer to an un-tuned, non-ported setup as landchshr has stated. You are not getting a liner response through the lower frequencies causing booming/poor sound. Tuning a sealed enclosure by adjusting the size of the port eliminates the booming and creates a flatter response and more natural sound. That said trying to tune an unsealed enclosure is difficult so I would put in a sealed enclosure, add a port and tune.

Thank you Landcrshr and ppc It sounds like I need to take a trip to the local installers and have it done right . I'll cut the storage box and get it out of the way and seal the storage box back up so all they will have to do is make the box . Is there a photo anywhere on here that shows a box behind the panel ?

Those polk 4" speakers are really amazing for being so small. I had them in my 1st gen 4Runner in the dash and I was amazed how good they sounded!

I got the polk db+ 5.25 inch speakers and the 4 inch in the back . they really sound good .You won't believe the sound that comes out of them .

To be clear both the front and back replacement Polk speakers fit behind the factory grill both front and back?

We spent a week camping in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, on Lake Superior. This is our favorite camping spot in the UP. One of the few places I've been where you can have woods full of pine trees that go right up to the sand leading to Lake Superior. Also, fires are legal on beach, because it's not an official campground...yet.
Toured the Keweenaw Peninsula all the way out to High Rock Bay, which is the furthest tip of the UP. Found some waterfalls throughout the U.P. to hike as well...oh, and ate smores every night by the fire on the beach.
