What did you do with your 60 this weekend? (9 Viewers)

I know you say you aren't interested in BMW seats but I grabbed some from a 2004 3-series, did a bunch of wiring, bought the torfab brackets and installed and it's NIGHT and DAY difference... and the seats are heated too! Paid $100 for the seats, $250 for the torfab brackets and besides the fun wiring project, they fit perfectly with the brackets.
Where do you look for the seats? Craigslist?
 
Don’t you have to remove the rear heater for the 3-series seats to work?
My 62 has the rear heater below the center console, so we didn't have to remove it, but we removed it to clean things up regardless... the front heat is plenty.

I found mine on marketplace and they were pretty minty... the guy I bought em from just bought some with lumbar that he was replacing his with. I happily took them off his hands and bought the pigtails for the seats on ebay for $25 and the pigtails for the seat heaters for another $40...
 
Having 5th gear has made the 60 more fun and modern. Speedo is 10 mph off.

Anyone have the Procar elite seats or similar? No interested in BMW or PT cruiser seats and can’t afford Scheelmans…or is the move to rebuild stock?

That h55 is a great upgrade. I went through the same decision making process on seats and ended up sending my factory seats to Zack at Nomad Cruisers in CO Springs and he rebuilt the bottom and backs with 3 diff levels (soft/med/firm) of memory foam. I’m extremely happy with them

His turnaround time for me was a few weeks back in the December timeframe.
 
not much but replaced my front calipers on the ol’ Fj62…

Calipers were original I guess they were on there!! Lots of patience and prayer got me through it.. I can not confidently brake without swerving.. lol..

Tomorrow window channel runs!! That is gonna be a mission.. any tips??
If you swallow a live frog first thing in the morning, the rest of your day will surely go easier. 😜😘,

Window channels are similar, after the purchase, if they arrive, it should go pretty smoothly.
 
I posted this in a different thread but thought it might be helpful for the main 60 group. While rebuilding this most recent t-case a friend @iansplatinum pointed out that I did not install the washer/spacer under the hi/lo shift selector. I’ve built a few cases so understand the risk of dropping the selector rod into the case. Also, I always put the washer back on the selector during tear down. Brain farted on this job and did not do that. During a conversation with @POTATO LAUNCHER he came up with a great suggestion to stick the welding wire to the tip. With my welding skills that’s easier said than done. Typically happens when I don’t want it to do so. After a few attempts it dawned on me I could tack a piece of hanger to the top. Problem solved and the washer is now in its final resting place. I’m sure this has been done before but could not find anything via a google search.

Not for 62s. I believe you are able to keep the rear heater for late production 1985s and newer 60s. Check Torfab's website for details. I second the BMW seat swap. Best thing I did since I bought mine new from the dealer....

LKQ parts is a great source - nationwide searching, fixed shipping rate whether the next state over or across the country. They will confirm condition before they ship. Be sure to ask them to cut the harness on the body side of the plugs.
 
@CenTXFJ60 Maybe you're not all buttoned up, but isn't your speedo cable too close to your exhaust pipe?
Pretty sure they sit much higher up.

Yes sir. Good catch. The clip that holds the cable on the DS of the case was not there. A zip tie or other method will be used to eliminate any risk of the cable running too close
