What did you do with your 60 this weekend? (2 Viewers)

Got the valve cover cleaned up and painted with a new gasket and bolt grommets. Now tackling the pushrod cover gasket. Also sanding and painting the air cleaner as well.

I thought the pushrod cover would be a bit tougher. So far it’s only a couple banana job. I’ll sand and paint the coolant hard lines next time I have the system opened up. Looks kinda lousy now that everything is cleaned and painted.

Sold it. I delivered it to its new MUD owner in Fort Collins this evening. Bought it new in Las Vegas in March 1984, so I owned it for 36-1/2 years. It served the family well and took us on a lot of fun adventures. The new owner has selected the best name possible, our original CB handle from the day we first joined Southern Nevada Land Cruisers. I'll let him provide the details.

John, I know that must have been a tough decision, but know it went to a good home :). I’m sure some of the parts I’ve sourced from you in the past may make their way to this truck. Jimmy

Nothing on the 62 this weekend, but got the bed of my rust repaired 84 painted. The Napa/Martin Senour Cross Fire paint is not a close match, so the rest of the truck gets paint when it warms up. Since the entire 62 needs paint, it will likely be a spring project. Winter painting can be a pain.

Traded some 60 parts with Jimmy. Centxfj60. It was pleasure to score some stuff for snowflake. I am no longer needing to find a snake blinders!!!
Dave, It was great meeting you and Terry today. We could have kept talking cruisers all day. I hope I did not delay your progress getting the lights up :). You and Terry have to make the trip out to the barn some time. We can put Snowflake on the lift and tackle the speedo cable.

Pictures or it didn't happen 😂😂😂
Will do but Terry along, might invo
Ha...I know my son is not on MUD too often. Here’s a pic he sent me this AM. He is stoked to have John’s 60 parked in front of his house. He’s proud to carry on the love for this truck. View attachment 2517851
Jimmy, I am so happy about the snake blinders. I still need to get those outdoor Christmas lights for Terry. Ha! I would be cautious about bringing her out there to the barn. She might just leave me haha. I am off today and will use the time to wash and wax snowflake. Thanks again.

New bulbs inside. Tried some LEDs in the overheads. I don’t really like the temperature but they do light things up like a hospital. I also tried wrapping them in amber lense tape. That just made the light greenish yellow and still pretty harsh on the eyes. I may go back with incandescent bulbs.

Swapped the cigarette lighter out for a usb charger and put an LED behind the AC bezel. Now I’ve got fancy light. I tracked down a pack of green light bulb boots... $9 after shipping... for 5.... :bang: I went and did it anyway. It looks funky having white lights in the cluster and green in the AC.

And I threw in a pair of 6x9 speakers in the rear. Finally have some decent tunes and lighting in here!

Side cover gasket done, cleaned and painted a bunch of stuff. Next up, oil pan and timing cover gaskets and a crank seal.

Georg taught me something while I was in his shop regarding the reseal you're doing... Do not do what I did and use the Toyota PPG Black sealant on the gaskets. All my stuff leaks again (Doh! I'll re do it again this winter maybe)

I took a pic of this stuff at his shop. Clean thoroughly, spray a layer of this on the engine... Wait 10 minutes. Also spray a healthy amount on the gasket and wait 10 min. Marry the surfaces... Wait overnight.

Always loved the look of the narrow steel wheels and have looked forever for a set within budget. I love my stocker chromies but have always wanted a set of these steelies. Not much has gone right for any of us this year but for whatever reason things aligned for me on this deal and I jumped on it. Cannot believe I finally have a set. I think they turned out amazing. So stoked!!!

YES! Those steelies look the part.

Do you recall what brand/model radio antenna you have?

Thanks
