Finally used 4WD for the first time since the knuckle rebuild! (Other than testing on the street). Went out to a friend's new property and hiked around with the dogs and did some .22 plinking. Good fun.

But I read that you have to remove the windshield to take out the headliner. Is this totally necessary? The windshield is the best part of the truck with no cracks or rust around the edge.

Can I put a new headliner back in with a bit of a remnant of the old headliner along the windshield, without replacing the windshield?

It's my understanding the windshield and quarter windows have to be removed as they hold the headliner in.

Had to go to Reno for some business over the weekend.

It dumped snow in Tahoe before I came home so some powder runs were in order on the way back. Stopped by my buds house on the way home too. Picked up some logs to split from his property.

I had to do a little road repair hence my hood up in one of these pics. Low voltage issue... Had to make a jumper wire for the fusible link. Got me home...

He’s got that white wolf dog the size of a small bear In the background. Looked like an animal straight out of Game of Thrones.

Found an old dirt road to run on the way out of the mountains too. Good times...

Years ago I loaded up my '84 FJ60 with about 1-1/2 times that much green pinon pine - had to drive back to the house over some pretty bumpy dirt roads. A few years later I discovered I had a broken leaf in one of my rear spring packs, probably from that trip.

Got tired of my sloppy shifter and found the write up about using the bronze bushings from Lowes so picked a couple up, die grinded the center out to fit the shaft(doesn't take much) and chucked them on the drill press and filed them down to fit. There is absolutely no slop anymore def worth the little time it took.

Took the grandson out for a ride. He promptly fell asleep, so I drove around our small valley for the next two hours on gravel backroads.
Apparently the OME and Bilstein combo is two year old approved, he slept like a rock.

Awesome your up in La Grande, Oregon. I’ll have to meet up sometime when passing thru.

Replaced that missing screw!

I need to do that! Actually what I need is a 100-pc assortment of all the general Mr T bolts and screws that are currently in rough shape.

I already had the steering box out for a rebuild, and had an annoying clunk when switching steering wheel direction. Found the upper u-joint on the steering shaft was the culprit. Pulled the column a bit ago and got around to replacing the joints.

In went the H55 and new transfer. Runs smooth and quiet. Gears are a little notchy right now, looking forward to first fluid change. 315s and h55 makes 70 right about 2100rpms. 1st is finally usable again!

Takes a while for the notchiness to go away. I am over a year out and mine has smoothed out for the most part, but still a little something in there that bothers me as far as the notchiness between gears. You will love the upgrade. Your cruiser will never see 3000 rpm again. 70mph under 3000!! Actually if you dont change gears fast enough between 1 and 2nd you might hit 3000, lol.

Wrapped up the nerfless White Knuckle slider install finally ...went for a joy ride to celebrate that and the nice weather.

return home and immediately notice coolant dumping out....yayyyy. Doesn’t appear to be the radiator or hoses. Seems to be coming down the front of the block so I’m pretty sure it’s the water pump. Temp spiked a little but not much. Doing research before digging into it/ordering parts or shipping it off to Otramm.

Nice TRD Pro Wheels!

Just did my water pump this weekend, albeit on a 5.3l, cause it was peeing coolant everywhere I went. I hope I don’t have to see fluorescent green fluid for a very long time.

That's the ticket right there. What ring and pinion? Stock gears in TC?
