Cold weather coming, picked up a load of mill ends.

I was making good progress on my 60 a few weeks ago. That's because I got laid off.... that only works for so long so now I'm back at the slow plod again. Doesn't help when I'm maintaining / building 6 vehicles and 2 properties while working 45 hours a week. This weekend I swapped out the warped rotors on my 4runner and did some fluid filming while I was in there to make it my winter adventure mobile. Happy about that.

On the 60 I finished a little project that has been going on for a while: replacing the rear hatch lock. Thanks to @ToyotaMatt I have a nice functioning lock again. A small victory but feels good to knock it off the list. I had to fix some bondo repairs first... it had been in a minor rear-ender and the lift hatch and tailgate are both pushed in and patched with bondo to make them look straight. I put the old rubber handle bumper thing back on which is kinda rusty. Maybe I'll replace it if I happen to come across a part # for it. But for now, I forced my INTJ personality to accept less than perfection and just get the bloody thing back together. I now have a perfectly functional rear hatch. Except for the struts that don't hold it up very well... but I did see those in a post above so that will go on the To Do List

Fun fact, there is an oem seal that eliminates the rubber surround in case you don't want to spend the ~$50 it is to replace it.

Oil change at 318,000 Miles, with minimal wear. Did mall crawling and a found a random picture that someone took and posted of my truck on Instagram.

Also went and rode in my friend @FARMAN33 ’s new 80. It’s fancy and comfy. I don’t know what to do with all the convenience. I can see one in my future.

This rusty heap gets lots of love, it always amazes me.

TAILGATE STORAGE. Need to utilize the empty space for all our gear. Used a cutting wheel to cut out sections, removed the brace, grinder to smooth edges, old door trim I had (never throw away anything) for looks. Enough space for a couple wool blankets, dog leashes and dry bags. Still using the original cover, but thinking of another option , possibly thin plywood or ABS sheets with latches.

Rolled over to a half million km’s recently. Even though I didn’t put most those miles on it, sure felt good seeing it roll into 500,000! Looking forward to a lot more memories over the next half million Km’s!!

After offering cigar and rum to Jobu, doing a good luck dance and crossing my fingers I cut into the headliner to check for threads in the c-pillar...

Success! Okay now need to tear out the rest of the interior to get 3point belts installed.

All it did was assume daily driver status and run errands. This since the Dodge W250 injection pump is spewing fuel to places other than the injectors..

Tell me more about those window shades 😎
I ordered the touring set from Solarscreen - Quality custom made window insulation for Motorhomes, 4x4s, Boats and Cars. They are specifically made for the 60 Series. They are the real deal, perfect fit, high quality and keep the rig cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Email sales@solarscreen.com.au the Make, Year and a set of pictures of the rig. It took ~2-3 weeks to from Australia. I have been ordering accessories for my 62 from Australia lately bc US outfitters do not provide many accessory options for our 60 series.

these are cool! Have you come across any other cool Aussie stuff we may not have heard of? from a fellow 6-2 guy.

@DougRFJ62 what do they look like when removed and in the storage bag? How much space do they take up?
