Got the output shaft and gear in from @orangefj45 the other day, good stuff. Put new bushings in the high and low gears. Replaced the needle bearings in the rear output shaft. Got the preload on rear bearing set, and the rest of the TC put together and topped off along with the tranny. Sent a new list of parts to @beno, they ship Tue. Paid Marshall for another one of his @Trollhole carbs for the 75' 40. Ordered some hardware for it from SOR right after I ordered the carb. I'll order some Rust Bullet for the frame today sometime.

Conducted self recovery operations! When you're out by yourself, you gotta be able to take care of yourself.

I was STUCK...used the hi-lift to pull the vehicle forward a bit and was able to drive out. (Look at the dog! "Good job, Dad...what's your plan now!?")

OK, I finally finished my install of rear shoulder belts as per @roadstr6 and his rushing turdle

with some slightly different mounting as I have wagon gear panels. Upgrades the seatback to have headrests. So now the rear seat is as safe as can be for an old 84 vehicle. Also ran solid power to the right rear quarter to power my ARB fridge.

removed the air rail(rustiest thing on my 60) and installed the OEM(3fe) plugs in the head. I was really surprised how easy it all came off.......it was so rusted(soaked in Kroil for a week) I was able to just twist each rail with a 17mm wrench and the metal pipes broke, which then made it easy to get the rest of the plug out. the rear one looked like it would be a PITA to get to, but after the other 5 were off, I had the sawzal going to cut the hose off the check valve.....the vibration was enough to brake the back one off at the pipe Plugs went in and bottomed out nicely. No more leaking air rail and its looking much cleaner under the hood, working my way to a full desmog.

I did however manage to bust off 1 of the 4 bolts for the T stat upper housing. just the top 3/4" with head broke, so there should be plenty of meat left to get the rest of it out of the lower 1/2......but will leave it to my buddy who has much more patience than me

last weekend we did all new OEM calipers, wheel cylinders, pads/shoes, 4 hoses, master and all the pins/clips/springs/brake tubes etc. Had 1 piston that was starting to get sticky and both rear cylinders were just wet behind the boots. I did leave the DBA sloted rotors(and what where new drums) on, they only have 10,000 on them. Age is more a factor than mileage sometimes(and can't say I stayed on top of flushing the brakes)

Saturday drove past a forest fire. Fire was a prescribed fire for ecological restoration and management of longleaf forest in south Alabama.

Yesterday became stuck under a bridge along the Locust Fork in north Alabama. Winched off the bridge supports to reach a less slick spot.

Things I did with/to my 60-Series ('88 FJ62) this week(end)

1. Bought it.

2. Re-worked lights' wiring, relays, etc., so that all work, and fine-meshed all front lights & radiator. Will drive it back to Alaska in about 6-7 weeks.

3. Posted THESE pix for youz guyz to ogle! Didn't there use to be a Show Off Your Ride sub-forum somewhere around?
