I booked my ticket into Montrose to pick up the GX and roll into Summit! Psyched!

Nope! I did read about the trouble you had fitting yours, so I told the tire shop to just throw the new spare in the cargo area if it didn't fit. Lo and behold they got it snugged up in place just fine. I need to crawl under there and see if they had to adjust the hitch or anything.

coo.

I just noticed. Mine's KDSS, so the RSB is different and MUCH tighter than non-KDSS. I crawled under a non-KDSS this weekend and saw the differences there. I'll update my thread to reflect that observation.

Ciao

Received my Hefty sliders! They shouldn't sit too long before I paint and bolt them on. Had OPOR on my 80 and 100 in the past. Went with these for my GX and guessing they are going to be overkill for any wheeling I do. Can't imagine bending or damaging these things.

Changed all the rotors and pads, and replaced the passenger-side front diff support so we're ready to leave next week to Jackson Hole then Moab. Took the better part of a morning but wasn't complicated.

Mounted the solar panel and wired in the controller to the aux battery. Hopefully will keep it topped up when the fridge and lights are running at camp.

Finished up the timing belt/water pump replacement on the wife's GX this morning. Highly recommend the below kit if you are shopping around.

Amazon.com: Aisin TKT-021 Engine Timing Belt Kit with Water Pump: Automotive

This youtube video along with Mud was my guide.

Big sigh of relief that everything worked out well. Fast forward a few hours and I'm on my way to the office, still feeling highly accomplished from conquering the feared timing belt job. Taking my exit off the interstate and the ABS lights and a warning horn start going off in my LX. What in the hell is that!?

Short research on mud confirms that I need to rebuild/replace the $1,800 ABS and master cylinder on the LX.

Thanks cruiser gods for bringing me quickly back down to earth.

finally did my own oil and filter change.
learned things, like get the extra capacity filter at napa (PN 1516 IIRC) not the tiny one that specs from the computer.

Just returned from a 3700 mile 2-week camping road trip with the fam. Nearly 4700 miles on the BFGs and avg MPG (accounting for the 3.4% tire difference) is north of 17.25 mpg (yeah over half were highway miles from this road trip), which rocks! car shows 16.7 total average, I reset the avg when mounting the BFGs 265-70-17.

Replaced the OEM rear shocks with T4R OEM shocks. Easy peesy other than having to cut the nut off the top of the shocks. Some of the bushings also bonded themselves to the washers, but it wasn't anything a torch couldn't handle.

OEM shocks had 150k on them, and for $80 shipped who could say no to brand new OEM shocks from Toyota. Gets a thumbs up from me....ride quality much improved.

Oh? Do you know what vehicle that filter is spec'd for? I'd like to find the Wix equivalent at RockAuto.

Pioneer Canoyon and Goose Lake trails in Red River, NM. We have better video and pics on my son's GoPro, but he hast downloaded them yet. First time out for the wife and kids. Had a blast, but would have been nice to have another vehicle with us.

*edit* napa gold is 1516, Wix is 51516. I'll still see if anything specs that as standard replacement... i think there are even higher capacity ones too...

Wix 51516 & Napa 1516 Oil Filter

Installed Wheeler's Super Bumps on the front today. Wanted to mitigate shock damage since I'm running spacers. Hoping they'll be long enough to help.
