Installed the Slee bracket and mounted the air compressor a couple of days ago. Put in the Blue Sea fuse block and wired the fridge and lights into it. Now have to figure out the compressor wiring. Btw- anyone have a recommendation on the fuse size for a 45L fridge and what to use for the compressor?

Don't get me totally wrong those things are fun, a blast and a damn hoot, but they do exactly that 'shred" and SO many areas are just ripped to $#!+ because of the "carefree, go anywhere, do anything" attitude. Its disheartening and alarming to see what that industry has wrought on the landscape, BUT with good trail etiquette we can all enjoy, share and have a good time for ourselves and our kids to enjoy it in time to come.
I don't want to be preachy and just want to speak up with concern, but it is a real and true issue out here and everywhere. The damage (and it can be short lived or long lasting) doesn't go away when peeps turn in their rental keys... People that live and make a living here (and other places people like to vacation and play) see it all the time and everywhere.

I've come to call it vacation brain, and living in a mecca of fun, I see it rampantly 9 months of the year. I'm probably susceptible to it but mindful of it when I'm vacationing elsewhere too.

Quite right. I had gone to Cruise Moab back in 2011 and visited Chicken Corners back then. This year the family took a vacation to Moab and I thought I'd give the kids a thrill. We drove out to Chicken corners and found it quite different than it had been 6 years ago. It was absolutely packed with those Razr things. Many were going way too fast and were doing their best to tear up the trail. It was rather sickening. Took a lot of the fun out of it.

Went to Tip Top Mountain in Big Bear...I was testing my ATRAC and it sucks. Tires spin too much in areas where it shouldn't. I was in lo gear and center diff locked. I was even apply some brakes to prevent the spinning, but it didn't help much. I also made sure I was under 2000 RPMs, but it doesn't help.

I was on my 80 on the same trail last year. It didn't spin any wheels. My 80 only has a center diff lock and it's open in the front and rear. The 80 somehow gets way better traction when crawling.

I might have to get that rear Aussie locker for the gx470 to see if it gets better. Don't get me wrong, there are a few things I like about the gx470, but ATRAC is not one of them.

Yes, CDL confirmed on via dashboard light. I had it on the last two miles of uphill climbs.

I also tested my DAC on the return trip downhill. That thing is noisy and sounds like brakes are going to break, but works fine and controls the downhill speed well.

@HomersCanyonero - you're not the first to initially dislike ATRAC (esp. compared to the simplicity and effectiveness of an 80 - locked or not). I still don't have enough offroad seat time with ATRAC to have gotten used to it and share a qualified opinion but I have determined that comparing my 80 and my GX isn't all that useful (they each have their respective pros/cons).

I also have a short run I knocked out in my 80 - 4Lo only, not locked - that I couldn't make in my GX that still baffles me - found a different line and eventually made it BUT you have to admit the freeway travel to-from the trails is a LOT better in a GX.

Me - went camping recently with my girls (first days of summer vacation). Great trip, easy travel, DVDs in headrests (which others have griped about) made the trip a breeze for the kiddos. Not to mention the rear seats STAY folded-up/in-place vs. my 80 which tend to come loose, bounce around against the rear sliding windows when offroad which drives me frikkin' NUTS. It's the little things....

So weird, I have had no issues going from my un-locked 80 to the ATRAC GX.
I have been completely impressed with it. Consistent skinny pedal and no brakes unless you are two footing it in a sketchy spot.

DAC is annoying and for only an extreme situation IMHO. The GX completely stock no lift has been a blast and I haven't taken it easy on her at all. Wish I had more pics from the trail where I wrecked my steps before getting sliders.

Your just not used to it yet and don't know how to drive it. I watched two of my buddies tackle the entire Kokopelli and several trails around Moab using atrac equipped runners. Keep your foot off of the brake when climbing, the a-trac will take care of the brakes for you though it sometimes takes a second before it engages proper.

Yeah there's a lot of good things about gx470 compared to the 80 like nice freeway ride to the trail, better gas mileage, more power going uphill, etc. Not complaint about that. Just surprised about crawling prowess.

There's another trail in Borrego Springs called south coyote canyon. There a hill called Boulder Alley or something like that. My 80 crawled that thing like it had lockers, but only has center diff.

Two guys on grand cherokees, one unlocked and one triple locked, were surprised I wasn't locked. The unlocked GC just spun his wheels and never made it up the hill. He had to back out to let me thru on my 80.

I'm gonna try that boulder alley on my gx470 to see what it does. I'm trying to figure out why the 80 can crawl so good even without lockers in front and rear.

What kind of tires are you running? Are you aired down? All of these things make a difference.

Its going to spin until the system takes over, you have to let it do the work. Also, its not hard to use, you just can't drive it the same as your 80. Its as simple as keeping steady throttle pressure and pointing the tires where you want to go. A couple of things appear to be going on here. You either haven't educated yourself on how the system works, your on bald or fully inflated tires. Or, the trails you are running are drastically underrated. A fifth option is maybe the wheel speed sensors are having an issue and the system is not engaging, but I would think you would see a trouble light.

The picture of your truck looks like your running KO2's with plenty of tread left so that shouldn't be the problem. I don't see any bulge in the sidewall so maybe you didn't air down ?

Went to the Lexus dealer to see if they would honor a AAA coupon for a "Road Trip Ready Service" for $39.99. It's basically an oil/filter change, tire rotation, and a detailed 40-point inspection.

Longo Lexus honored the coupon at $39.99 inclusive of tax, exterior car wash, and a written report of everything they checked. Not bad...they did recommend $2k worth of repairs...some which were on my list to do like front brakes and rotors.

I'm on the fence about slotted/drilled vs plain rotors.

Also, I'm confused about the green, yellow, red stuff for brake pads.

I'm thinking akebono ceramic pads and EBC rotors for the front...no calipers.
