went to check oil and found dipstick tube broke all the way off. dropped pan after work. drove out broke off tube stub, installed new, called it a night.

Yesterday driving home I encountered the common hesitation issue with the 2F engine when starting at low RPM accelerating to get on down the road. After doing some homework reading threads (which is like chasing rabbit holes with what causes this), I got after it. First I replaced the fuel filter, no change and the gas looked good. Then I started reading about vacuum stuff... I went to replace all the hoses I could, EGR lines, and the brake booster were stock (it looks bare bones since we threw the Redline electric choke on it). After calling around and stopping at a couple places I got the brake booster line and the EGR line that runs to the vacuum advance assembly. I lucked out because that appears to have fixed the issue. In fact, it feels like it runs better too.

Side note, the fatter line that runs from the EGR over to the other side of the block should be able to handle high heat and appears to be molded. Does anyone happen to know an outfit that makes hoses that I could replace that with, or where I could find a stock one?
Thank you in advance!

Got the pan back on using beck arnley one piece gasket and a third a tube of fipg. There is no comparison between good ol fipg and permatex ultra black. I wondered if I was crazy for spending 17 bucks on gasket goo, but was quickly reminded why I do... no leaks so far. Which is a bit concerning cause it was the easiest install under the truck I’ve had the joy of doing...

Got new pump in but it's not the same. The housing is different the fan flange is diffrent depth also. I have double pulley I could use the other groove now to offset the difference in pumps . Am I wrong in this idea? I only have alternator belt. Mine is a 1f style pump that I can tell. Any help in this learning experience is welcomed. Thanks.

You need a different pump. Go to SOR.coms water pump page and they’ll point you to the pump you need.

Great thanks for information they listed it. I need one from a 1/75 to 8/76 2f style. Now to search and try and see if it can be gotten for less than $202.00 . Thanks for all the help.

I think mine form NAPA was under $100. It was for a 1972 fj40.

Buy one from Cruiser Outfitters. They list one w/out oil cooler for $105.00. Kurt and Bryce know their stuff and can get you what you need.
