What did you do to your pig today?

Today I did the best thing I could do with my pig. I drove it over to Mark's OffRoad and had him inspect it. Not all the news was good, but I have such a better understanding of the truck overall.

Based on his inspection and advice, I'll have a list of repairs and upgrades that I'm going to tackle over the next few months. I'm going to start a "build" thread to chart progress once I get it all together.

thanks again @65swb45

what are you on about R? you are the local Toyota guru...

Nice to meet you and your rig Mark. I have finished your inspection report and will call you later to discuss a couple of options for a game plan.

Got tired of pulling out a R pin to release my swing out tyre carrier so welded on a spring loaded latch. Had a HJ61 transfer knob floating about so welded on what I think was a M12 X1.25 bolt thread to the release pin....

Wasn't happy with the 55 mirrors so adapted some early 40/45 oem mirrors I'd been holding onto for years...

Charles helped adjust the mirror angles.

Close up of what I did to get around drilling extra mounting holes...just flipped one of the brackets and packed it with a few washers to suit. Should be stout enough, main thing is they fold in when a tree hits them.
Thumbs up from Charles again...

I put an fj62 speedometer into an fj55 speedometer housing....
Have you ever needed a 110 mph clock, or fancied a trip odometer?
Ez mod thread to follow...

interesting. OEM or aftermarket? what years had mounting bases like that? Bolts to the factory side mirror location?
