Murf,

Was this to solve the problem you were having with the lockers on Montana Mt.? Bad compressor? Or was this the process of elimination?

Yep, the compressor armature is hanging up. Time for a newer model.

Replaced all the bushings in the fj55 , ordered the eletric fan http://www.zirgo.com/fan_selector_options.php?item=ZFB8# with temp sensor, shroud, and relay, also ordered a new steering box. I finished buttoning up the engine and I am almost ready to install it.. Still having a hard time locating the perfect set of headers for it...

got it done with a new compressor harness, switches too. Had to make a custom plate to mount all the new stuff. Replaced the old switches and the inop knob in the middle with a power port :bounce:

Haha thanks but i just tightened it with 3 guys a breaker bar some rope and the 3/4" wrench... lol we probably tightened it pretty good, enough so that the size 14mm socket would slip off grip several times after doing the whole thing. It was rather an.interesting.process. whatever i torqued it to, it rruns fine. Kinda scetchy though so you readers just use a torque wrench. Will probably save u in yhe long run

WOW, you had the old push buttons ? I sold those a half year after I got my truck

just out of curiosity, do you know how old your lockers are ?

as for the harness, is the front locker dependent on the rear being on, or did you wire them independently ? - I really prefer the latter, and will switch our 80 to that, too when I get to it (2 or 3 spades to change, so )

Yeah, had the old switches which still worked great.I would guess the system was up to 20 years old? I already went through the diff and upgraded the arb seals last year so everything is good to go now. The system works great, I love the ease of use and positive lock.

This new harness requires the rear locker must be engaged prior to front. May change it later if I feel I need to?

Butcher Jones PIC's

There aren't many cats that know wheeling like Tools R Us, so when I got a chance to snap a pic--I did. This was a triple gulp, double-take, Oh-$#!@! mountain. hahahaha.

Zona

P.S. I made it up too if anyone's wondering.

It was snowing out in the pacific northwest. went a bit to fast and spun out having to counter steer twice and then slid into a ditch. Luckily i didnt flip over but i was stuck in there. Lol... couldnt get out, towtruck pulled me out... mines all stock no lockers. Goodluck to all and drive super safe.

the push button switches were gone when Michael got the first rear ARB in the Blazer (circa '96/'97 IIRC), so they were at least that old :D

there have been VERY few instances over the years where I used the front locker alone - the newer wiring set-up should work for 99.5% of obstacles

Murfs ARB's were installed in 1991

1993 Buttons changed style but still push button, pictured all the way to the right

First switch use by Tony Roberts, pre ARB ownership were paddle switches

I like the push button in the 40 best

my pushbuttons were fully functional, but I had to make a new bracket when I got the hand throttle - one of the switch housings had lost a clip and therefore would not hold in a new bracket

that reminds me, I need to install a new switch for the compressor - mine no longer lights up properly

I put new wiper blades on the 80. First new ones in a few years. The others were done. :meh:
