Steering stabilizer kit installed, death wobbles gone.. Now I just need to be able to take a Saturday off to install the new engine so I can hold 50mph on any sort of hill

I did the needful

replace smog pump replace power steering pump - replaced pressure and return hose since I was there. New belts, new TEQ water pump (yay for 1 year replacement warranty!)

Now I think I'll go cool down, and perhaps make it out to the Tucson meeting tonight.

Glenn in Tucson

I installed some new shoes! 37's and a 4x4 Labs rear bumper kit!

Looks good Marcus - you going to paint the bumper or posder coat?

Hope to see you on the trail again soon

Great look, rear bumper is a nice addition. How did you route the exhaust?

I going to paint the bumper once I clearance everything for the 37's

Saddletramp I currently have the exhaust cut to install the rear bumper. I haven't rerouted it yet.

Painted hood and valance both look great from a distance, not so much up close but at least it matches :hillbilly:

Finally got my snorkel on and removed most of the roof rack. Still need to get the adhesive off and the steel runners. No real rust on the body, on rivnut started to rust out. Need to drill it out and install a new one.

Trying to get her ready for the bedlining it!

Loaded it for bear and drove it around 200miles of dirt.

After this last club run, I took out my air filter (one of the few washable types around - thanks Mr. T) and took the hot water sprayer to it. Man that that filter spit chocolate milk for a full minute! That thing grabs alot of dust ~

Started a 3 jerry can carrier for my driver side swing out. Made to work with the Front Runner 5 gallon water can with the spout in the bottom. Other 2 cans are Scepter fuel cans. Made it 1" wider than it needed to be for a place to keep a shaker siphon hose in a case to keep out of the dust. Plan is to refuel without needing to remove from carrier. Used 3/16" steel so it's heavy but I had a bunch left over from another project so put it to use...

New Polk Db651 speakers in the front doors, and control arm drop brackets to mellow out my caster angles and stabilize the steering :). Our 80 is happy!

Unfortunately, for every project I complete , I discover 2 more.

installed the hand throttle in the LX

I suddenly found the 40 pulling right some when braking. Found the left original caliper leaking so I replaced both calipers and installed new pads while there.

works much gooder :hillbilly:

Stuff done very "recently", not just this past week (listed in no particular order):

1. Scottsdale Muffler & Exhaust - catback replacement w/ 2.5" - VERY happy. Still need to get the truck back to them, O2 bungs on order for additional rusted pipe replacements in front of the cats.

2. Wrapped up my audio replacement. Little sub installation and new HU are in. The sub I went with makes a noticeable difference but I'd do it differently if I had the chance. This simply sounds like a small sub and the overall audio experience (all components considered - Pioneers in doors included, new JVC mechless HU) isn't as good as I'd hoped. Definitely better then when I started out but....meh.

3. Swapped AFM's w/ a used one bought from another Mud'er. Problem solved - very happy. Soldering I'd done to my original must still not be 100% from when I originally and unintentionally yanked out the internals like so many others before me....if I wasn't so lazy I'd do some resistance checks between the two units for an SBS comparison but for some reason can't get myself to actually do it.

4. PFran reverse lights (7W) - BRIGHT

5. I did the "BB thing" - two vac-lines looped and six BB's installed. Running fine, still haven't gotten through a full tank yet to check for any marginal MPG improvements (some have posted positive results here) - not holding my breath. Not sure I want to go through the hassle of a full EGR delete since there doesn't sound to be much of a parasitic loss tied to the pump remaining in-place.

6. Trying to get my hands on a Gobi ladder for the rear and wasting people's time thinking/posting about a rear wind deflector.

Cheers - hoping to make the March run - need to convince a buddy or two to join me so I'm not a solo-Loser on the trail.....

O' yeah, spending way too much time thinking about getting a bunch of camping gear. The sickness is here.....

What is the BB thing?

Let me know when the ladder arrives:cheers: I have been on the fence about ordering one since they became available.
