I did something similar on my MGB. I got things very cold with liquid nitrogen then smashed and scraped.It warmed up to a balmy -13, so I got out to do some work. The soundproofing on the floor near the barn doors kept chipping and flaking off as I was working on the bodywork in the back. So, I got a little frustrated with it and took my scraper and hammer to it.
Low temps can be useful.
