I did something similar on my MGB. I got things very cold with liquid nitrogen then smashed and scraped.

You're getting there. I'm sending more CHINOOK winds your way so maybe it'll get a little warmer? I lined my entire cargo area with Kilmat and the put the carpet back on top. Helped a lot with noise reduction.
Re holes - access to the rear body mount bolts maybe?
I would have said those holes dont look very Toyota but... look in the floor panel pics on megazip @ P/No:90950-01027 which is a rubber bung/plug showing in that location
Maybe for a rear seat mount in a different configuration?

I have those same holes; whilst you've got the floor out, find the bungs in the rear quarter panel and clear out those traps down there! I need to do mine again before I start putting it back together.

Yes, it corresponds to the thickness of the head gasket.
So it would be 2mm?
The factory service manual has all of the answers to your questions. #2 is a parts designation. The manual will have applicable thickness information.
Reasonable afternoon on the Hdj79 got some new shoes, new drive and AC belts, some new weathershields, floor mats and some headlights. Rear brake pads in the morning.

Little life update,
It hasn't even been 2 years of ownership and it's time to part ways.
Just when you think it's finally sorted and time to think about fun mods, life surprises you with the blessing of a child.
Selling the 75 wasn't necessary but my wife has struggled getting in and out and has found it uncomfortable for her back. Thinking about what's over the horizon makes me think that the truck would sit. Which it has been for the last few months anyway. Parting ways just made sense.
Owning a 70 series for the last 7 years has been a blast. From learning the ins and outs of a 74 with a college budget (mistakes were made) to having passive income for the 75. I think it's bittersweet departing this realm but I'm excited for this next chapter. It'll probably be a few years before my next 70 but it's truly this corner of the forum that has sold me on cruisers forever. I'm a forever lurker in the 70 series forums...
For the time being I picked up an incredibly clean and low mileage 06' 100 that should meet the needs of a new family.

Just finished working under and on the floor, was a long journey (troopy have lot of surfaces and ... lot of surprise!) but getting there..

Should only take ten minutes
Took Frank in to the shop to sort out some things that were best left to my mechanic. He sorted all but one thing out that I need to drop off to a gauge meter expert.

I bought a new Tacho sender but he couldn’t get it to read so this will go into a specialist and hoping he can sought it.
Then went for a body surf down at local beach. Used a hand plane for first time that was heaps of fun.
