I put my VIN into www.toyodiy.com, navigated to the 24 volt alternator section within electrical, found the part number for brushes, copied the part number, and had the dealer order it from the Toyota parts warehouse. My truck is originally from Europe and 24 volt, I don’t know if parts availability will be the same for other BJ70s, but it is worth a shot.
thanks, mines 24v too

First step was to build a table to work on. This old metal desk worked just fine.

Took the transfer apart and cleaned everything, just waiting on parts to arrive.

I got the 78 on jack stands for the first time today to do a little maintenance. Simple job, but I needed new brake pads. Shoutout to Kurt from Cruiser Outfitters to helping me verify I was getting the right parts! I had to throw one of his stickers up on the kegerator; he needs to print this design as a shirt

Did a quick overnight camping trip in the mountains a couple of hours west of town this weekend. Enjoyed a beautiful, moonlit camp in the middle of nowhere:

Did some stargazing and night photography:

The next morning was a leisurely drive across high, open ridges with the occasional sheepherder's wagon. One flock of sheep blocked the road for a few minutes, until the sheepdogs came and herded them out of the way. The sheepherder and his horses kept and eye on the proceedings from further up the hillside. It was like going back to a different century.

Some snow still hung around on the higher hilltops, left over from a storm a few days prior.

The troopy and I are out of our native habitat, and stuck in the suburban wilds of VA for a bit; it was time for an oil change

At least I’m working in the presence of another cool classic:

Not even close. He finds cool cars and buys them, I’m just posing with it. That’s my sister’s 73 super beetle that she’s had since college, 86/87. Probably not to hard to figure out where she went to school 🤣
