Installed batteries. Only ones I could find nearby with 3 year warranty. $200 x 2.
Talked to new local, small tire shop workers about transferring 255/85R16's onto used OEM 16x6 steelies.
$30 each they say, which is a very different and welcome reply.
Another local shop told me the tires won't fit on 16x6 wheels while a 3rd shop said they could not do it unless I bought tires from them.
Burgers available too on select days.

Mfg specs on my cooper discoverers in that size call for a 6.5" rim but they will fit fine on the OEM rims. I bought my tires and wheels separately and took them to Discount Tire / America's Tire to be mounted and balanced. Now I have free lifetime rotations.

I was concerned they'd be nitpicky on the size of the rims but had no issues.

The tire shop that said my tires won't go on the OEM rims was the same shop that told me it was illegal to do a VA state inspection of my street-legal mini truck.
Unfortunately, they are the closest tire shop.

Got the Ram phone mount set up in the grab handle. These three items from Home Depot will get the B-size ball mount fixed to the handle. I cut the spacer and used about 40% to get the ball further away from the handle. Still messing around with positioning, I want it to be in the same space as the A-pillar so it doesn't block my view of the road.

I like this solution... what RAM ball mount part did you use? I'm struggling to understand how those three parts plus a ball mount threaded into the existing captured nut...

and here i am still wearing t-shirt and shorts,,,, been a warm winter so far.
It was 30-something degrees that day... blowing wind up on the rim... and scattered flurries. It was the shortest/quickest hunt we've ever done... the kids were not appreciating the cold. I had long-johns on so was fine. It was the wind that was making it bad.

Also, we are so hot-weather acclimated at this point we are just wusses.

This is the RAM ball kit you’ll need.

Motorcycle Ball Kit

Use the bolt from Home Depot instead of the included hardware with the ball mount. The Home Depot bolt replaces the bolt that’s in the grab handle. The washer and nylon spacer can be used to give the same thread depth as the Toyota bolt.

I can take more photos if you’d like.

For those of you with factory dash mounted inclinometers...you know how those little knob and screws are. I had lost one of those screws when I was putting mine all back together and never found it.

I managed to get some new OEM knobs and was pleasantly surprised to find they come with the screws in the bag.

You are a hero! Was looking for that part no for a long time! Great. Thank you 😃
Let's see where I can get it...
Cheers Ralf

That looks like it will hold your phone even off roading. I resorted to velcro. If you use a magnet mount center dash windshield area you will find they release your large screen smartphone so that it will fall onto the steel Ebrake handle between the front seats and bust your screen. It's especially dangerous when your wife buys you a new unlocked $700 phone and mag mount for Christmas(because she thought your old busted screen phone and velcro was ugly)

Yesterday I removed the front calipers as I am in the process of rebuilding the front hubs on my 92 HZJ73. They are not looking too bad but not too good either. Not shown is the pound of dirt and crud that came out of them when I took the pads out. 😳

Rather then popping on new pads and hoping for the best, I figured I would get remanufactured calipers.

So today, I went to my local Fat Guys auto parts store and picked them up for less than $130 CAD for the pair. For that price, you can’t go wrong. Plus no worries about sticking pistons or leaking seals or boots.

I cross referenced with ‘95 v6 4Runner. Nugeon 97-01560A and 97-01560B.

Shiny and new …

With the weather being so much more mild this winter, there has been NO snow on the ground. We are used to snow this time of year, so it somehow did not "feel" like Christmas when all of a sudden it was here upon us. We decided it would be fun to go to the cabin for a couple of nights for a rustic Christmas up in the mountains. No electricity, no cell service - seems perfect.

Sometimes, my wife's parents rent out the cabin, so when we got there the wood shed only had a couple of days worth of wood for heat. So, land cruiser and boys to the rescue! We proceeded to gather some deadfall we could burn immediately. We would cut and gather several logs at a time, and drag them back to camp behind the land cruiser. Work smart, not hard. Or just do what I do, work hard, and try to be smart about it... lol.

We bucked up and split enough wood for our stay, plus another bunch for about 4 additional days, and we did not touch what was already left in the wood shed. As anyone staying in someone's cabin SHOULD do. At the very least, we should at least leave fires ready to light, and a wood supply for a day for any emergency situation.

The lads had a lot of fun with the work, and tobogganing and generally just running around doing what kids do best... being kids. If I were to ask them which they would prefer, staying at home for Christmas, or going to the cabin, they probably would rather have stayed home. But that is why they are kids, they still need us to help them make the best decisions.

While I had the equipment all out and working, we decided to look after a tree close to the cabin that was dying. It was already leaning towards the cabin, so I decided not to take any chances. It was just a lodge pole pine (read: very tall and narrow) so it did not have a huge trunk, so the use of wedges was not realistic, especially if the saw gets caught. So I setup a redirect using the winch so I could pull the tree away from the cabin (and not right on top of the land cruiser)

Of course, as per usual, I was too busy with the task at hand to take pictures during the process, also making sure I take every opportunity to explain WHY I am doing it this way to my boys so they learn as well. So, all we get on the forum is the aftermath pictures.

We dropped it exactly where I had planned - on the driveway between the other trees.

I hope everyone else's holiday season is as festive as ours has been. Tomorrow I may head up the ski hill with the 3 lads and go snowboarding. The jury is still out on that one, as the conditions are less than ideal this year, but I suspect the lads will want to go regardless.
