A couple of small issues I suppose. I did use that when I first put it together. The biggest issue is you have to slowly boil/heat that cover in water and expand the part that goes onto the automatic timer. Getting fipg put on right...

Valley hybrids in Stockton CA is THE place to go. @orangefj45 is the man for all h55f swaps. What do you mean by remap? Tuning? By far the biggest upgrade will be a new and better matched turbo. Either a gturbo bolt on or Holset he221w...

Next trip was a backpacking one to the Purcell Mountains near Kimberly BC. A few coworkers were interested in a three night trip to some natural hot springs. Four of us fit into the 79 and another 3 were coming in a Subaru Outback as they...

Those parking brakes can be quite frustrating, but there are a couple of things you can do to lessen the pain of reassembly. Use small zip ties to keep the shoe hold-down springs compressed while you get the pins and spring cups in place. Also...

We had a long weekend last and decent temps and I spent two days working on Good Times. Between the leaky wipers and seals, and a power steering fluid leak, the front axle was coated with a dense cake of fine sandy dirt and grease. I decided to...

New old man emu front shackles, springs, and shocks on, courtesy of cruiser outfitters. Ready to put the arb bumper on after I touch up some frame paint. Then gonna do the rear suspension. I'll be selling all these bits I pulled off too. Anyone...

Hello, There are a couple of things most of these guys miss in their videos. There is a limit on the power you can squeeze out of a small displacement engine. If you go beyond that, either heat or emissions (sometimes both) become a problem...

Agreed. My 1.9L TDI engine puts out more hp and torque than a stock 1HZ and gets better fuel economy, but doesn't have the same "duty cycle". Seeing @Kroll 's posts about towing a BJ42 across BC with his 79 is a great illustration of this point...

It would be a perfect mod if it made the Land Cruiser faster too.... 😜 Nice ingenuity!

Back @ it with the spedo cable, this was a lot of fun. 83710-60280 was the one I ordered and it's exactly the same in everyway except! the connection to the cluster. But fear not with a little strategic twist/pull the old white connector will...

Boards, I usually hate running boards but I do like the ones on the 77's. Since I removed the flares I used the ones for non over fender trucks. 5178060072 STEP SUB-ASSY, LH 5177060052 STEP SUB-ASSY, RH

What’s in the box. Had a 4:1 low range installed first. Hopefully tomorrow the transmission jack will arrive. Didn’t realize that the transfer shifter assembly needed painted. Will see how long it will take to get it powder coated.

I would either record your steering when you are standing still and turning the wheel back and fourth or have someone hop in and turn back and fourth while you look. See if anything moves a lot or pops. I agree with above it sounds like tie...

Sprung a small lower seam leak in the 77's aluminum radiator. Probably because that old "Aluminum Radiators" thread came back up on the forum. Ha. Thanks! Had it tested and the intercooler cleaned out while waiting on parts for my 1HZ rebuild...

Hello, You can try the reservoir from a post-1992 truck, i. e., an FZJ73/74. Part number is 16470-66010 for an FZJ7x truck. Hope this helps. Juan

As you identified, typical A and B are section cuts through the oil pan. They are attempting to illustrate that between bolts, the sealant is applied down the center in the dimple; while at the bolts, the sealant should be applied inward...

I do the same. At worst, you are wasting a bit of sealant, but for the peace of mind, I do not mind. In most cases, by the time you need the sealant again, you are buying a new tube anyways because the old stuff got too hard and dried out.

There is usually two rules with customers for me doing a build thread on their Cruiser. #1 they remain anonymous and #2 no money discussed. Seems to me people should easily be able to respect a request like that. I didn’t clarify that when I...
