Nothing major but installed some mesh rock guards over my headlights. I really like the performance of these United Pacific LED headlights but they look to bright and shiny so I wanted to tone them down a bit. I tried installing Lamin-X smoke vinyl overlay, which looked better but the tint dimmed the headlights too much. Gave these black mesh guards a try and I think they not only look better but also don’t seem to block any meaningful amount of light. Had to go to the hardware store to get longer screws to mount these under the headlight bezels but apart from that was a very easy install.

I'm going to send you a PM on this. The coasts of NC, SC and GA are like no other in the world. I was really wondering where those shots were from with the big live oaks. Not a lot here in NC, but a few and that was confusing. I grew up playing in the Francis Marion National Forest south of Awendaw- back packing, shooting, and riding dirt bikes. As much as that area has grown, it is still amazing; I need to get back there and enjoy the preserved lands.
Thanks for the reminder!
thanks! I love the classic look, too. I was not feeling these headlights without the guards on them. I like how they function -- I wired up the halos to be white running lights that flash amber as turn signals/hazards -- but the bright chrome housing with projector eye vibe was not right for this era of vehicle.I love these vintage rock guards. Gives that old school vibe.
I'm north of Denver near Loveland!Very cool, where abouts in Colorado are you?
Nice! I’m just west of north Ft collins about 15mins. Loveland I’m only about 35ish mins away. Great to see another 70 series in the area.I'm north of Denver near Loveland!

Some of my cruiser friends and mud guys live in Windsor. Getting near time for a meet up.
Need a better side profile pictureAlthough I’m not a big fan of “side graphics“ I do like the idea of breaking up the profile especially when that profile is a large slab of white. These adhesive graphics are available in a black rubber material as well as one accented in chrome and are cut to fit tightly over the Land Cruiser script. Between the graphic and the air vent behind the door there’s just enough black to break up the mass of white. View attachment 3267396
I will add that to tomorrow’s “to do“ list.Need a better side profile picture
I had outstanding luck painting the wheels on my old chevy k10 rattle can "chrome" paint and then clearcoated with the same Omni(ppg) eurothane that I sprayed on the truck. In 10 years it never chipped, rust bubbled, or even scratched. On the interior I flat black sprayed my steering wheel, column, and shifters and then coated with the same clear. I held up as good as the wheels and everyone asked me "where did you get the new steering wheel and shifters". A good automotive eurothane clear is quite durable. Don't know if it's better than powder coat but it's darn good.Interloper here. Not exactly a 70 series, but my FJ55 now sports Prado/70 series 16" wheels off a Troopy that I've been sitting on for awhile. Found a set of 235/85R16 BFG ATs with virtually no wear so mounted 'em up and slapped 'em on. In a perfect world I'd have done 255s but in reality I only lost about a half inch of height and maybe an inch of width from the former 33/1050R15s. But I'm a "tall skinnies" guy anyway. It may take a bit to get used to the look but not to appreciate losing 11 pounds per tire of rolling mass. Been wanting 16s for tire availability anyway. At some point I'll want to paint or powder coat them in the OEM Ash Grey used on the bumpers and grille.

At my advanced age my morning ritual includes the following……

*Successful bowel movement (assuming the bran does its job).
*Remember that you requested a photo. (this is not a given).
*Post photo.![]()
Excellent idea.Put a reminder note on the toilet paper dispenser.![]()
