That's a huge inverter. Are you using a household north-american 110v kettle? Curious as I am going around and around in my mind about how to upgrade my camping cooking setup. I'd like to be able to heat water to ~200f without leaving the vehicle on mornings with terrible weather. But 12v kettles are terribly slow. 110v requires a massive inverter. Part of me wants to consider a 24v house battery and 220 inverter but that seems like overkill.
Crank up the truck while you boil water or any other short-term heavy load + a big inverter is a simple solution....wire a boost capacitor inline with your inverter to help with startup surge. I can run a 5000 btu AC with a 1500 watt inverter. Small power tools will also run, even a microwave(one large item at a time of course).

And just when things were going so well.

Had a driver change lanes into the left hand side of the Prado last week. Scratches on both doors through the two tone, small dent in rear quarter panel right at the taillight that broke the paint, rear flares broken, small dent on the rear wheel arch when you open the door from the flare being pushed in, and pulled the front flare gasket loose. Essentially the whole passenger side needs work and to be repainted. Shop estimate is $4k.

I recieved a package from Germany. Scheel-mann seat cover. I only bought one to try it out and it was more difficult to install than Escape Gear but came out really nice. My only complaint is the color is more greenish than grey.

It even came with a bottle holder but I didn't install it....

I completed my battle vs shackles and pin today. I did the rear pins the stupid way by squishing the bushing and raising and lowering the axle until I got everything lined up. Then I realized the big hole on the outside... yea you slide that part in from the outside knucklehead. Air Hammers were invented for this job.

Slapped the seat back in this evening after putting the cover on the previous evening.

Fit and finish of the cover is excellent but I just wish it was more grey. It has a weird greenish tint to the material. The tactical stuff is a bit overboard but I may learn to make the most of the straps and Velcro over time.

I've got it! You could always velcro a parachute next to you.

In search and rescue, we like to be prepared for every possible scenario. And well, you just never know.....

🤔🤭

I was thinking a taser, flashlight and handcuffs as I told someone else (as a joke of course).

Anyways someone pointed out to me that these are referred to as “molle” straps.

I get the concept of seat covers (I also have them) but having never seen scheel-mann seats do you gauge the material to be something that is more substantial (less apt to fail over time) than an OEM seat?

That is a good question and hard to answer because I would be comparing 30 year old OEM fabric against new scheel-mann fabric. I just got this one to try out since @Bogan mentioned the material on his scheel-mann seats cracking within a few years of use. I do think he has real leather as opposed to mine being vinyl so maybe that makes a difference. I don't know.

In the end, I may just remove the cover and appreciate the scheel-mann seats uncovered. Going to try out the cover for a bit to get a good judgement of it before I make that decision. I already drove the cruiser to work today and I hardly noticed it was on there.

Was the grinding noise from the transfer case or the front axle area? I have experienced a grinding noise under load from my electric hubs when they don't engage properly, mostly in cold weather. Also, if the electric hubs don't engage when the button is pressed and you try to engage 4WD with the vehicle moving then the transfer case will grind.

There is a data tag on the firewall in the engine bay that will have the axle code on it, I don't recall the different codes off the top of my head but you could look up your axle code to determine if yours is fitted with an LSD or if it is open.
Thanks for the reply, I was stopped when I engaged the hub lock and 4HI. I then proceeded to travel up the hill when the grinding happened (definitely the transfer case) by this time I was committed to making it up the hill and wasn't going to stop to check. the grinding lasted for a couple of seconds then was quiet. I made it to the top and stopped to reset the buttons. after I reset the buttons no more grinding and I could hear the characteristic transfer case humming so I assumed all was working. we found some manual hubs in Taiwan that bolt on without an adaptor plate and should be fine for where I go. I'm also installing a new steering stabilizer as the one mounted is shot, definitely two hands on the wheel at all times. It has the classic G144 axle and there's no indication anywhere that it's a LSD. I'm going to jack the rear up and spin one of the tires to find out for sure. still need to do a complete driveline oil change too.

Cheers.

The molle straps on the sides are used to attach all types of military kit pouches(tool pouch, 1st aid, flashlight, pepper sprAy, holsters, survival kit/food, scissors, knives, gps etc..) They use a strap or plastic strip that weaves in and out of the molle straps holding them secure. Velcro can hold phones, tablets. Map cases, 1st aid kits, small radios, Bluetooth winch remote,... Pretty much anything lightweight you can put a piece of self adhesive Velcro on that you don't want bouncing around or sliding around on the floor of your truck.

I thought about making some seat covers like that about 5 years ago before anybody else was doing it.
