just got back from the shakedown. night and day difference. should have bitten the bullet and done this right when i got back from purchasing the truck. i won't be putting those heavy leafs back.

Fixed my broken AC compressor tensioner and replaced an O ring on the high pressure line. Welded up a really ugly skid plate for the T case out of scrap that I had. It's about 1" lower than I like, but It will work. vacum and recharge the AC and pack in the AM. Shooting for windrock tomorrow night.

Installed a fancy new car alarm w/ remote start, proximity sensors, etc… Also installed JL Audio C2-400 4” dash speakers. Also put new wheels on: Raceline Gauge 950B 15x8 -24 6x139 on 32x11 Falken Wildpeak AT3W’s.

This weekend install: Fridge and fridge slide.

Sunday: Camping.

How are you liking the JL Audio C2-400 4” dash speakers that you installed?

I tried to figure out how oil by 73 is leaking today. It’s definitely too much! Leaving a solid spot a couple palm sizes everywhere I park. Seal replacement or just try with thicker oil and a stop leak product?

Put my new wedge RTT on my 77 yesterday. Then thought really heavy thoughts and slowly backed out of the garage while my wife watched the overhead.

IT FITS! Barely, and I had to make some mods to the opening, but it fits. 7 foot doors are not made for 4x4s 😂

My exhaust is about to tear apart near the flex pipe. New part is ordered, but takes time for delivery.
... but it's going to be very nice weather this weekend, and there are three classic car events within 50km, I want to join.
Time for some bushmechanic.

The had a all vintage 70s campsite.

No more pics. Would be off topic: As usual, my LC was the only one to participate in any of the three events. Just too rare 😉
... and the exhaust was quiet for all the 289km 😃

Find it and fix it. Anything else will not help on the long run. (Maybe not even on the short run...).

Returned from the 70 series gathering at windrock today. Really nice to meet great people there. Special thanks to "theglob" for guiding me in to a spot to camp late at night and filling me in on link up in the morning and to Charles and others for organizing the event........
...
Slept late on Sunday catching up after some too short nights. Had to run just one more trail in the early afternoon before going home. Wanted something a little bit more challenging than the group did the day before. Picked Blue trail number 22. Beautiful trail very nicely challenging. Tested the skid plate and my rockers and both held up fine. I continue to be amazed by how well those small skinny tires grip and pull when they're aired down.....

The route entered a long water/mud hole. There was a bypass but my little boy wanted me to try it. Check the bottom with a stick and it was a little deep but had a fairly hard bottom. We gave it a go. We were pulling fine almost to the end of it when the ruts got deep in the water went as deep as 6 in over the hood. Forward movement ceased. I was however able to back all the way out without getting stuck. Open the doors and let the water pour out. Continue on and all is well, until I stalled the engine.

On restart the starter would not disengage the solenoid and Bendix were stuck. Turn the key off the engine would die but the starter would keep spinning. Had to disconnect the battery to stop it.......... Disassemble the wires on the 24v positive terminal, removing the lead to the starter but hooking up the rest of them. Restart the engine by shorting the big wire to the terminal and then pulling it away once it's running............. We made our way out of the trails and 430 miles back home without shutting the engine down once. About halfway home I realized I could have used the Ford starter solenoid on my firewall that manually runs the glow plugs to switch the starter if I I wanted to pull over at an auto parts store and rewire it that way, but I just kept running..... Good weekend with challenges good story and we're back home safe and on time

@robmobile73 : Well done. Fingers crossed the starter and your other electrics didn't suffer.
6 in over the hood? That's deep. If your axle- and gearhouse breathers are not elevated that high, you should check the oils.
What about the interior? Any damage or just wet?
Anyway. Just amazing what our rigs can do.

FYI The mud hole that you are describing is not on the trail, but rather along the gravel road access (G22). That area is rather level and tends to retain water so some buggies and such like to wallow-n-play in the mud until they have dug out deep pits in the mud. These holes seem to be there year after year ... but typically with a go-around. Due to the availability of a go-around, my projection is the park leaves the hog wallows because the hogs will return to dig the pits back out regardless (after they invested maintenance resources to close the pits).
