Pulled the old camper up to the hills for a quick over-nighter. Woke up to a skiff of snow.

Charged batteries with 24V NOCO charger.
Did compression test with adapter purchased here. Compression Test Adapter 13B/13BT & 12HT - Diesel Update - Modern Performance for old IDI diesels
Even with new one-way valve installed just below gauge, gauge would not hold pressure. Needle bounced up near 350 psi for each cylinder though.
Cured high temp paint on manifold in school kiln. Heat shields too.
Painted injectors with gray engine paint. Made vinyl tubing sleeves to mask hollow bolts.

Señor Robbie finished rebuilding the transmission, t-case, and PTO. The clutch plate was also replaced, as it was down to the rivets.

Only finished off a couple of tasks this evening.
Replaced the water pump and finished installing the winch on the 70. The winch install certainly required the most time of the two. I went with a Pierce winch rated at 9000lbs. I selected the Pierce for a number of reasons; size (fits between the frame rails rather than above), comparable specs to an 8274 (line speed at lower weight), durability (Pierce winches are frequently used on wreckers and other industrial applications), price (less than half what a new 24v 8274 runs => i.e., I am cheap and the bride is very cheap when it comes to truck expenses

Changed out the transmission / transfer / PTO gear oil. A friend convinced me to go with the Red Line MT-90.
Then I repurposed the JDM Speedo alarm buzzer so that if I have the headlights on and the door opens, I have a friendly reminder! Thanks @John Galt for the idea.

I got the painted exhaust manifold back in. I had to open up 2 of the bolt holes maybe 0.01 inch to get everything to line up.
Ran the nylon tubing for my mechanical oil pressure gauge and tested it with air.
Got rebuild and painted injectors back in along with leak pipe and injector pipes.

Had my 1HZ starter rebuild. Now to make the outside look as spiffy as the inside.
Doorbell rang and it was DHL from overseas. More Toys Toyota parts necessary for keeping me busy.

You have me feeling better about the shop that I use for starter & alternator rebuilds.
As part of their rebuild, they do a walnut shell media blast then paint the exterior surfaces (steel/cast iron get black paint, aluminum gets silver). The end product that I pick up looks fairly like the rebuild that I was expecting.

My brother in law did the repairs in his shop after hours and charged me nothing. For that price I'll gladly do the cleanup.
