Mirrors - how about a mirror that works with the OEM or after market arms that are intended for the plastic mirrors that almost universally fail. Frankly what I would like is a mirror that looks similar to OEM but has a better method of clamping on the arm ball - the OEM and after market versions of these fail. Here is a good discussion on mirrors but no solution to the problem I am talking about.....

From what I've seen, the aftermarket products typically have lower quality mirrors. There isn't as much depth and clarity.

If you're going to do unobtanium replacements, I'd advise sticking as close to OEM design and authentic look as possible.
I'd rather buy a used original than a new "improved" part that doesn't look original.

I would like some input. For those of you who have a '78 and earlier Cruiser, would you be OK with a '79 and later sun visor, which is a little bigger and white? or do you prefer to stay with the same one you currently have? I believe the earlier one is thinner and tan in color.

Here's what the newer one looks like:

I'm not a purist so I personally wouldn't care if it was like a newer one as long as it was a direct bolt on. However, as another poster mentioned as close as possible to original for the year might get you more sales as many are trying to do a true to year restore.

The one thing I'd need though is a visor complete with mount since my mount broke. I went to a pick-n-pull for a visor and had to fab a mount, which doesn't look all that good.

Would be interested in sun visors, would prefer original style. But if the later ones were a straight bolt in i would care.
My FJ40 is nearly more FJ60 these days.

I've seen a couple places sell visors. I think the biggest pain in them is the price. I would be up for a set. But would pay up to a certain percent of what's currently sold before going to the more expensive oem.

Yup, I hear you all. Sun visor isn't unobtainium. The goal here is make it obtainable at a reasonable price.

Regarding the different years, the later type is a direct bolt-on replacement for all years, and in my opinion it's a nice upgrade for the earlier cars, because Toyota made it slightly wider...for obvious reasons. Even the later type is not exactly wide enough for the size of the windshield.

X2 for these - there are alternatives out there, but high quality alternative that look good and fit like OEM are another story. Plus, I need both!

I'd love to see someone start making metal fuel lines from the tank to the fuel pump. And from the fuel pump to the carb. I know I could make my own, but it'd be nice to be able to buy something off the shelf.

Crap Croozers makes one... or did. I tried it and it started cracking within two years. It was even shorter than the original so it was tough to get enough purchase area for the hose clamps to seat on.

I just picked up a new one from Specter. I don't know if they're having it made or simply re-badging a hose from some other vehicle but it looks to be a huge improvement. Much thicker and longer so you can trim it to fit. Not cheap though.

FWIW - After some research on good and bad fuel fill lines, I decided to use a 2" ID Goodyear 45 degree, part number #59202, cut to fit. You can take a look at post #7 & #8 on this link for what I did.
