I just installed the same console in my Fj62 yesterday. I cut out a hole for the heater control, I think it just looks better this way. I'm no way a fear head or engineer, and I was able to do it all with a dremel. Pretty simple overall. I'll send pics shortly.

Pics here. Full disclosure, the 3rd is another user. I haven't done the heater fan switch, but I pulled this pic from another user.

I agree it looks way better with the control installed, but i didnt feel like cutting a huge hole in it. This was my solution..

Rock lights came in today. Its the VisionX tantrum kit in white. I heard ok reviews on the brightness of the white leds, so i decided to just go for it and see how i like them. I will post installation pics when i get to it.

Ty, Great looking conversion. I'm newbie to all of this Landcruiser sub-culture. I've got a white 89 FJ62, and you've given me some great ideas, but I'm a little torn and may want to keep mine mostly spec with the bumpers. It's all in great shape, and I really don't need massive bumpers and rick slides for how I use it. It's mostly highway and 4x4 roads down in Big Bend Nat'l Park; no major rock climbing or crawling. Is it all just preference on how much to convert, and how much to keep spec? Additionally, what does 'SOA' mean?

Yeah i built it for rockcrawling. The bumpers and sliders are there to protect the body from rock rash. SOA is the way i converted the Spring Over Axle for lift. Adds a little more clearence and makes it flexy

Just do your searching and find out what exactly you want. My plan was to use my cruiser as more of a rock crawler, so i went with the SOA set up. Many people have their cruisers set up in more of an expedition style, adding a couple inches of lift with more of a heavy load type spring and some A/T tires. Build it how you want to use it.
I find that us cruiser guys feel that their way is the right way, but everyone has their own opinion. Build it how you want, not what everyone else wants. Just please dont lower it or anything crazy like that. Start a build thread man!

Have you had it in any rocks yet? If so how is it? You've got ARB lockers F + R right?

Yes ARBs front and rear. Of course i have taken it on the rocks..thats what it was built for! I did drive lots of Fordyce and was very suprised how it performed. I had almost no wheel spin with the tires aired down. Love it

It's been a while since I've been on mud. No real updates on Wampa yet but there will be some soon to come. I noticed my mirrors are starting to bubble and my grill has a few places peeling up. Should I black em out? I have been thinking about this lately but my dad says I shouldn't. Any thoughts? I think a semi flat on the mirrors and grill and a de chrome will give it more of a utilitarian look.
Thanks guys

normally id say black them out, but i think you should leave them be. looks so good its making me consider going back to chrome.

Also looking to test the tantrum.
How did you mount them?
They seem a bit focused, but I guess they fan/flood the light better in real life?

Yes I have been happy with the rock lights. All my pictures are crap but they are pretty bright. I was thinking about mounting them at an angle so the beam covers more ground.
I just glued each pod to the frame. I know there are better ways but it works for now.

Maybe we could do a trade? I just have this idea where blacking it out will make it look that much cooler, but I'm not sure.
