Installed a long overdue suspension refresh. Stage one Slinky 75mm HD kit. Broke a few bolts, tapped a few holes and now just have the sway bar left to complete once I find the proper nutserts for the frame.

and once again very jealous and appreciative of the garage space loan from @fj40z

Paint correction done on the Duramax...I'm happy with how it turned out. Am now working on replacing door and roof-line weatherstripping, windshield trim, cowl trim and new wiper arms.

Edit: replaced cab vents in hopes of fixing a leak / wet rear carpet.

My gx kicked my ass this weekend. couldnt do my hub bearing swaps because the freaking nuts were torqued beyond my Milwaukee m18 fuel 1/2 inch impact gun, breaker bar and hi lift jack handle, and way beyond my back's strength and flexibility. I found a piston in the passenger front caliper that is seized, so new calipers got added to the shopping list. didnt even remove the drivers side front wheel (where my bad bearing is). I need to rebuild both parking brakes, and the drivers rear axle seal has been compromised for a while. drivers parking brake was covered in grease, and came apart with broken hardware. so, that was this afternoon's parts order.

i think I'm gonna break down and take it to a shop, and just swipe the plastic and not care....first non-maintenance work in 4 years of ownership, so I shouldn't complain.

it was a total cluster#^!* of a weekend. my big floor jack has air in the system, and even after bleeding it several times, still only gives about 1/3 of a pump under load. that made getting onto and off of the stands loads of fun.

the highlight of my day was walking the dog in my nasty greasy clothes, and sat on a bench with the dog taking a break. a car stopped, and the couple rolled the window down, said, what a beautiful dog, and then asked if I needed money for dog food. LOL

Timing belt time on the 4Runner.

This is the maintenance job I've decided I enjoy the least. At the end there is nothing new and shiny to see, no performance increase, and it behaves just like it did before.

Agree, but there is definitely a sense of satisfaction in doing it and it starting afterwards

Did you have j-springs in the rear? Did the Slinky HD rear springs give more or less lift?

Yes. What was replaced was slee4” fronts and OME J’s in the rear. On the day of install when I set it back down off the jackstands they netted three-quarter inch more height but I expect that to settle and the J’s and L’s were 10 years old as well. I can pull measurements after getting a few drives on them and let you know.

How does it drive? Body sway etc?

I loved the flex of the frankies springs on my old 80 series but it was a bit loose in the street vs the ome.

perhaps a little bit of the same feeling. But I really need more miles and also need to install the rear sway bar to give it an honest and fair opinion. Very Cadillac smooth but a little bit squirmy on the one drive I’ve made

I drove it about 25 feet from my driveway to the grass so my wife could pull the car out. Averaged about 3 mph. Very smooth, was good on the surface transition, and was forgiving when I poured on the boost.
