Bought something to replace the Jeep, really happy with how it drove coming back from Virginia last night and couldn’t be more happy to be in a truck and Toyota at that.

Now to do some deep cleaning gotta try and give @roadstr6 a run for his money on detailing after seeing how good Cotten came out!

Not really wrenching, but jetta is sold today. Yesterday I cleaned it up and changed the oil.

Found a turtle wax headlight cleaner on clearance at Wally world. Great $2 spent. Didn't think it would actually work this good.

I had the same problem on my LX570. I was washing it yesterday, which always includes cleaning the glass with Bon Ami. Since I had the cloth in my hand , I wiped the lens and voila!, no more haze.

I'd imagine if I had used a buffer it would have come out close to factory. For the tiny pads and the limited amount of elbow grease I could get on it, it came out pretty good. Never had to do it before i've been pretty lucky with my headlights not yellowing on all my vehicles. Although the LS is starting to get there but I may do a groupon professional for that one. Or buy a buffer.

@FJEnthusiast123 is back from Sweden for a week and, after lunch (where we saw a car on its lid on South Blvd), we went by his parents place to check out his dormant 40. Long story short, I got to work on a Cruiser today! After a misdirected triage I replaced battery cable ends and one nasty, original 1977 battery ground cable. Cleaned up connections in various places. Best part - it last ran in August 2017...pulled the choke, gave the gas a pump or two, and VROOOM! Started on the first try. Seriously. We might have actually hi-fived. Ran like a top, bro.

Cruiser pics are great and everything, but this is all I got:

Its like what happens on all the restoration tv shows...first crank

That and one short test drive and then rush to deliver because everything is on a extreme deadline. I put at least a couple hundred miles on a truck before I deliver to a customer. Even then I wait for "that" call for months.

Thanks to whom ever mentioned an 18 piece of pipe. Finally could get the bolts to release on the front shocks of the white 04. Trying to figure if they even needed replacing. ;)

I'll save the write up for @FJ Junkie 's upcoming thread, but the short of it is I removed the lift gate door lock cylinder since the keys wouldn't insert all the way and the slot was angled instead of vertical. A good scrubbing to remove some filth, some VERY careful disassembly, more cleaning and VERY careful reassembly got me a working cylinder. Now to do the equally useless front doors.

Gave the sixty some needed love in preparations for potentially being my vehicle of choice for the relic run.

A few weeks ago I ran berrymans injector snake oil through the gas tank, and dumped in some Seafoam into the oil in prep for my annual oil change.

Swapped in a huge Napa “fork lift” filter aka Napa gold 1773, a bottle of stp zddp, and 8+qts of rotella t4 diesel Dino oil.

Notice the size difference between the 1553 vs 1773! Wowzers

After filling it up it started up great!

How much more oil did it take to fill up the motor to full with the oversized filter?

I wasn’t very scientific. But I’d guess it’s less than half a quart extra. The 60 guys swear the extra capacity/oil is beneficial for the tractor engine.

That big jug was 2.5 gallons, I’m not good at conversion but there’s at least a couple inches of fresh oil left in the jug
