Look at the 95-97 magnaflow header and front cat combo it's about 300 bucks nice quality.

the nuts always rust out. normally just cut what is left of the nut off and get some new ones. 90179-08059

Check the thread in the 80 series section about the magnaflow y pipe. magnaflow bought bosal, which has a similar product, but is much inferior. I ordered a magnaflow off Ebay from jc whitney, and it was the correct magnaflow product. it had o2 gasket and nuts for the bung. sold it to another member when I was able to remove and replace the o2 studs on mine.

Del, Your truck will indeed have to pass emissions testing here in NC. You are right to try to go ahead and deal with the CEL and O2 sensor issue in the proper manner.

Anderson’s truck is a ‘94, so pre-OBD2 (mine is too). No emissions on anything older than ‘96.

Depends on the county. Some counties don't have emission testing.

Have you ever worked on something and everything went as planned? Rear rotors and rear brake pads on 100 in under 1.5 hours. Every bolt let go. Been working on cars since 1982 and this is a first. Ok, back to cool wrenching stories. ;)

Changed engine oil and put in the recommended amount of 7.2 qts with new filter. Reading a little over full line. Do I need to remove some?? Thoughts. Thanks for the help.

How far over is "a little" ? Too much oil in the crankcase will cause excessive aeration, but if if over by a tiny bit it doesn't matter.

I thought I blew a head gasket, but there is oil everywhere.

I was going down I-40 just fine, started loosing power and then lost almost all power, this was over the course of like 20-30s. I pulled off, steam was pouring out my hood and the temp gauge was pegged, it cut itself off. No water in the oil, but oil everywhere.

Thats the way they go.
Run a compression test.
So when the head gaskets go it’s normal for oil to go everywhere? And what’s the purpose of the compression test? To just see if it’s making a seal anymore?

It depends. The head gasket seals or contains the passages between the block and the head. Those passages pass oil, water, fuel/air. Generally the head gasket goes out or burns through between cylinder 5/6 and 1/2. So the fuel/air is pushed between cylinders instead of being compressed. This is generally observed as a loss of power. The gasket could also or additionlly fail a coolant passage or oil passage. Causing one or both fluids to leak out. But, not normally. Pull all your plugs and the EFI fuse, depress the the throttle and crank the engine over 6 -7 times with the compression gauge on a cylinder. Record all 6 numbers . most auto parts stores have a compression tester kit that you can loan you basically put it on your credit card (deposit) then return it to them within 30 days and there's no cost.

So I was on the way to Clemson when it blew, only 15min from my house. Since I have to be back at school, my dad picked me up and is driving me there now. A rollback picked up the 80 and took it to a shop my dad uses, so I guess they’ll diagnose it. If I didn’t have to go to school I’d try and figure it out. This may become a park the 80 until Christmas break and replace the HG myself situation.

Thank you for all the advice though.
