Many many thanks to my enabling neighbor.

So whats everyones favorite socket storage/organizer system? Ive had the sticks with socket stubs that hold a dozen or so before but found not so handy. Rice has his multiples in OCD lined up rows like infantryman but id domino that setup in a heart beat i think. Thoughts on the vertical post style? Only cons i guess would be needing a tall drawer or top shelf to stand them in. Or scalloped trays? In most cases it seems numbers dont match your collection pieces so expandability is nice. Kobalt hs some nice unlabled trays tht may work well but you end up wth a tone of 1/4” spots i dont need.



Those that reach for them daily.... what have you found best?

Haven't found a good solution for wrenches. For sockets, the vertical post trays are the best thing since sliced bread.

Those are what im eyeing currently.
The short side/deepside magnetic scallops are cool too. For now they fit in one top drawer standing but will see how long i can keep it organized. Plus id love a quicker size recognition.

That's nice.... I have mine in some lowes organizers on top of my work bench... all extra's are in my tool chest bunched together in 5 MM increments.

Similar to Johnny, I like the HF plastic socket trays. There were open spaces but I filled them with other sockets...just don't always match the label.

For wrenches, I picked some of these up last summer. They are fairly decent. I did have to trim some of the plastic gripper when using larger wrenches (e.g. 1" and larger). Not perfect but keeps them from moving in drawers and can be used to carry to your work area.

The standing ones i use have the size printed on the top, that sticks up just above the socket. Super easy to see which size you want to grab, or more frequently (for me) which size is currently missing

I like the ones @GLTHFJ60 is talking about I like those but I think I’m gonna try some foam inserts they have from grainger so I can use the shallow drawers.

If you want to do foam inserts, that stuff is called Kaizen Foam. Buy it cheap on amazon, lay out the tools you want, and cut out layers of the multi-layer foam to get your tools to sit in there. Obviously this also allows you to customize the shape of the tool holder to your drawer. It's cheaper than buying pre-cut inserts, and as a bonus, you can make it specific to your tools.
