Company I'm working with to make soft tops makes just about everything for the marine environment. So they have a ton of this fabric they use to make boat covers. I asked them to make this version for me to sell. Comes in 7 colors. Made out of WeatherMAX fabric. Mild and mildew resistant, UV and water resistant as well it will breath and not trap moisture. Want to read more on the fabric. Click here. http://www.safetycomponents.com/WeatherMax/FAQ/#What

Price is $235 shipped in the lower 48.

Colors available
Moss aka OD green
Forest Green
Pacific Blue
Taupe
Sand
Chocolate
Black

If you want to see the colors go here http://www.safetycomponents.com/WeatherMax/Colors/

I only carry the ones I listed but if your super picky I can do the other colors but it will take a few weeks to get and it will cost more.

They have two grommets in the back and two on each side of the front doors. This allows you to use a bungee cord to secure them under your truck. Visit my vendor hole if your interested. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/troll-trail-top.790884/

How does this work for people who remove their hard top, and only have a factory roll bar (such as on a '78)? Looks like I'd need to fab a rear bow to hold the top up, or just let the rear of this top sag.

Very interested in this. How sturdy would you expect the top/grommets to be against the wind when being towed?

If you are familiar with boat fabrics this one is really good, will it be water tight no but no fabric is, it will bead up and run off unless it's a monsoon... Then once it stops raining it will breath to keep mildew down,

Like troll carbs good price for what it is,

How about a bikini top to go with.. For another 50-60$.??????

I'm working on a oem rollbar version. This one is for family cage or oem soft top or hard top cruisers

I wouldn't think there would be any problems. This material is used for boat covers that are designed to be trailered. That being said I don't trailer my cruiser so someone will need to be the guinea pig on that one. ;) If there is an issue send it back and I'll fix it so it isn't.

What if it rains? Presumably it's not water tight?

Great product in any case!

If it was water tight it would turn into one moldy mess. Good thing about this stuff is you can throw it in a side load washing machine and air dry it. It's solution dyed so you could soak it in bleach without hurting it.

I like that answer. You should be hearing from me soon.

I have been building protective coverings, tensioned shade structures, boat covers and such for nearly 20 years. I am the leading supplier of motor home bras in the entire RV industry and have also produced the Tow Car Shield, for 18 years, which protects cars that are towed behind motor homes. I ship from Hawaii to Great Britain. I have several hundred patterns in my library and have sold through Camping World and many, many other dealers for 18 years. That is my credential for this discussion.

I know what f's up a paint job on moving vehicles better than anyone, having had to repaint more than a few cars and motor homes over the years, learn the lessons and remain in the industry. url]www.CoastlineRVandOffRoad.com[/url]

WeatherMax is an acrylic, solution dyed fabric manufactured in Spain. All acrylics are manufactured offshore. This woven fabric will hold its color and is coated to repel water. It is a great product but, it is also abrasive.

Now, as to the tow-ability of this product : don't even think about it. Especially if your 40 has a prized paint job or is an over paint. Trollholes cover looks to be a well designed and tailored for a parked vehicle but for on the road, designing a tensioning system would be near impossible to prevent damage, especially at that price. If you want to vaporize paint, and maybe even find mystery holes in the sheet metal, go ahead and tow it for a couple hundred miles at freeway speed. Personally, I wouldn't touch it with a stick.

Beyond that, it looks like a darned good product, well worth the price.

Good to know. I'll bring it up at our next meeting and see what they say. I never had thought of using it for towing. More of when it's sitting. I'll get back on the towing thing next week.

about time someone else did one of these

how durable is if you were to tow the 40 with it on, I may be sending money your way
