Just ordered a Neutral Start switch from Toyota of Decatur
Saved $75 assuming $22 for shipping that was free.

I tried to load the same item and have to pay a lot more. Makes no sense. Are you using a promo code?

I don't think those are the same parts, based off the MSRP...but I could be wrong.

No promo

Different part - Yours is for a 2001 and mine is for a 9/98 build date '99. I think yours was a bit more expensive to begin with.

Yours: part # 84540-51010
Mine: part # 84540-30270

Looks like you did get the free shipping as well.

They have another sale

This is an everyday sale at Springhill Toyota in Mobile…. If not an even larger discount like current status pictured.

My assumption with some of these promos is that this is in addition to what the “usual sale” is. Checking other websites… everyone offers some sort of daily paltry discount, but these are intended to be added on top.

Will be checking on the 25th I guess. I price shop between 3 dealers and it’s wild how the same part can have a sizable difference in final price.

I forget mobile has two Toyota dealers. I usually hang my hat in Pensacola and the dealer here is trash (I’m nice it takes a lot for me to say that about a place).
Lexus of mobile has some great prices online and I think at least two nice parts counter guys.

Considered buying one of the brake assys above, is it nuts to buy one when do not need? Ive an 01 w 200k but never had issues with system.

i think i love land cruisers a lot more than wallet does.

website is giving legit deals.

Using the 25% off from Decatur for a new condenser, $257 OTD. No tax. No shipping. Really having a hard time not going back for round two.

Depends on if you want to keep the cruiser and also how many miles are on it. Also, they've run this deal twice now, so it will likely come up again, but if it's your daily driver you aren't going to want to wait until the deal comes around again to buy the brake assembly. You'd likely be out the $1,700 for full retail if it failed and you needed it back asap. But that's also a big "preventative maintenance" purchase lol

It’s a “when” rather than an “if” item … buy and keep on the shelf if you have the financial luxury of being in the position to 👍

In the same dilema, my 05 has 280k miles, I have it for about 5yrs, pretty sure OG unit, it does make more noise than before but not screeching, it loads in about 35-38 secs, I did flush about 6 months ago w oem fluid, it already went a bit dark.

So is a $1100 preemptive maintenance item crazy?

Well, I think it is, but it’s better than paying $2500 to a dealer in the middle of your vacation with your family.

Also, I was considering posting the used part for sale on eBay for cheap, which still works fine, to help a cruiser owner that might need one to get back on the road. That way I might recoup some of the expense..

BTW

Toyota of North Miami is running the same promo. EB Toyota isn’t as of now.

Good to know multiple dealers are running the promo. I like Decatur because myself and others have had bad luck with the shipping practices of other dealers. Decatur re-packs these items really well.

Absolutely… only in my opinion.

If I was in a preventative mode of jinxing myself I would not say….that I have never had a “hundy brake failure”in no idea how many 1000s of miles. I also have 296k miles on my last timing belt service in one hundy with no issues. So the $3000 in TB service and $1100+ in brakes I haven’t spent in wasted “preventative” costs have actually bought me another land cruiser and buncha gas to fill it with.

Again, I could have brake and timing belt failures in all my hundys today, which is why I wouldn’t make those risky statements above.

A friend of mine in Australia found this out and asked me to buy 10 oil filters and a fuel filter to his Prado 95 and shipped to him. It turns out they pay $20 a oil filter (here is it $3 after all the discounts) and closer to $100 on a fuel filter ($22 here)
