land = pine trees. pine trees = money. That's my formula. It is yet to be seen if it is a winning or losing formula, however. So far it's break-even at best. I'll let you know in about 20 years.

Dave, did you have to file a wodland harvesting plan etc? I had to write a long term logging plan for our property here in order to qualify for AG as it relates to taxes etc.
You bet I did. A good portion of ours is in the Conservation Reserve Program as well so that adds a whole 'nother level of BS paperwork.

I am with you on the paper work. I dealt with the Feds, State and County, ughhh. You'd think they would accept each other's documentation. Well worth it, now that it is done. 
The other faction for us are possible building sites in the back corner of this property some time down the line. Not sure what the future will bring but there are several different possibilities. All I know is that I do not wish to eat dog food if and when I retire.

forgot how I got here....but this is a 100% perfect example of how broken and corrupt our country is. This is only what makes the news. There are probably hundreds of thousands of situations just like this all over the great USA. Speechless.

Natalie and I normally keep the garage door closed, aside from working in the garage/yard, etc. So if I was a bird living in the garage really wouldn't work, at least we thought. There is a House Wren that somehow or another has made it work. Keep in mind the only way into the garage is via garage door .... no other secret passages. She somehow manages to get in at the end of the day and disappears in the garage (can never find her), until 5:20 AM each morning when she starts singing to be let out.
As soon as I go into the garage she flies down onto the floor and waits for me to open the door and let her out.

I can't make this s*** up. This past Friday I found a stray starving German Shepherd in my front yard eating my dogs craps. I gave him some food and water and the dog kept throwing it up because he hadn't eaten in forever. My neighborhood subdivision is the biggest in the city. Posted it on my neighborhood Facebook page and a neighbor came and got him and took him to the animal hospital. Turns out the dog has a chip. So they track down the owner and it's my neighbor two houses down. Which is really screwed up. This is when it really takes a turn because the guy is a cop. Not only that but they believe it's a former k-9. As horrible as that is this guy is a Sargent and until last year was on the k-9 division. So now internal affairs and my local police department is involved. WTF is wrong with people. So far his excuse has been the dog went missing 2 weeks ago. It take way longer than two weeks for a dog to look like that. He never once put an ad in the paper or at least a sign around the neighborhood. Had he the 600 residents would have been out with flashlights until he was found. Very sad. Our dogs are always considered our children. I don't know how anyone could do this. Especially a cop. To a former police dog.

For the dog to be that emaciated, it would take more than two weeks. Not knowing the full story, I would say you have probably saved that dog from death from starvation and neglect. And, just because the guy is a cop and maybe a K-9 handler doesn't make him any less likely to abuse and neglect a dog like that. Good for you for taking the dog in!
@Trollhole if the dog needs a long term foster our home is open. We have experience both with GSD workkng dogs and starved dogs.

Amazon again, this time no Prime: I bought some junk for my GX on Feb 24.
They did not ship it until Mar 2.
Overnighted it.
Why sit on the f*****g order a week and then ship it overnight? They're too smart for their own good.
FWIW, a cousin of mine was one of the first 20 employees at Amazon, and is a friend of Bezos. He ultimately was their global director of logistics (warehousing, shipping etc). My cousin cashed out about 12 yrs ago for +$100million, and he hasn't worked since - assists his wife with her pilates studio, takes classes (never did get his undergraduate degree), goes fishing with his daughter...... I still ask him wtf is up with their stoopid shipping/fulfillment, but can't get a comprehensible answer.

I am absolutely convinced American MPG would increase somewhere between 10-25% if people would put down their goddammned phones and pay the f**k attention. Starting/stopping/jackrabbiit starts after looking up from texting kills traffic flow and mpg.

I HATE the drivers that are already driving slow and then tap their brakes when no one's in front of them. It happens everyday on 55 and 540 and when I pass them they are always on the phone.
