Thinking about trading...(Pics)

looks like theres enough steel on that thing to make the tires not rated for it.

orta bring a mint at the scales! :D  ....cha ching!

If the builder was so innovative, why did he put those D rings on the upper hoop of the bumper? They can't be rated to pull anything more than a tooth. That's the most ridiculous spot for D rings I've ever seen. Completely usless for anything other than cargo tie downs.

I do like the paint job though, I did a similar thing to a 60 I once owned. Turned out well, I thought.

LOL saw that to, wonder if they're rated at 4,5, or 6k lbs?.....IOW's not near enough to haul that POS out of the toilet!

Yikes! What country do you plan to invade with that rig?
Seriously. Keep the 80.

That paint is cool?! Eh? He rattle can painted it drab green for about $40 in a half hour. Check out the front winch fairlead - half painted, half not - didn't even bother to turn it. If that and the cheesy upper bumper are examples of his workmanship, I wonder how far off the beaten path you'll be when the cheesy welded steering link lets go? Or the 100 other things under it you can't see fall apart. Pass....

Name sounded familiar

"The War Wagon

Talk about a famous 4x4, Soni Honneger's outrageous Dodge M880A1-C ended up on two Four Wheeler covers during the early '90s. And if that weren't enough, we brought Soni all the way out from Fayetteville, Arkansas, to drool over the beast during our first Top Truck Challenge. The War Wagon is actually a heavily modified '76 Dodge Ramcharger with a 520hp 426 Hemi sending juice to a super-built TorqueFlite 727 and NP 203. Power splits to a Dana 60 front axle and Corporate 14-bolt rear housing 4.56:1 gears and Detroits. This 8,520-pound (empty) beast rides on a custom-built frame and employs a custom leaf spring/airbag rear suspension that utilizes Lakewood ladder bars joined in the center of the chassis. Each bumper doubles as a lift and houses dual 12,000-pound winches. Many of the parts were scavenged from a (get this) Peterbilt 18-wheeler, including the steering box, tie rods, and interior. All the hardware contributes to the 54-inch fording depth, 60/50-degree approach and departure angles, 350-mile range and 3,480-pound payload.

Soni's talented driving equaled his fabrication skills, because he placed Fourth overall that year. And lucky for us, TTC didn't require the use of the Browning 0.50 caliber machine gun mounted to the roof. It would take several pages to tell the whole story on this incredible rig, and like Soni's other ground-breaking invention, the Scorpion MK1, the War Wagon has gone down in history as one of the most innovative 4x4s ever built."

Alright, seriously, I'm not gonna trade but I am thinking about buying it for an extra toy. I have an acre in the back and can hide it behind some trees and out of view from the neighbors.
I have 3 other cars for daily drivers. I have some land out in the boondocks that this rig would be perfect for bringing stuff out there to build a cabin. Keep the smart ass comments coming. :flipoff2:

Now your talking. Not my taste in paticular, but if it was striclty a toy for you to mud bog and bash, it could be fun. As far as trading the 80 for it, HELL NO! You would take an utter beating on the value of the dodge vs. the value of the 80. And thats just as they sit in the drive way. Once things start breaking on the dodge (and they will) the financial hemoraging will continue. Its your decision, but I would flee from the very thought of it!

Good luck and keep us posted!

I'm not sure why he put those on there but I'm sure he had a reason. Ever seen the "Scorpion" before? This was probably his best vehicle: (check out the tow rig in the background)

He probably wasn't too worried about the paint on this rig. Who's worried about a rust spot on a tank?

Dont know whats happened in the months since you posted this, but funny story this rig ended up in Phoenix and I just bought it.

Max max all the way.

Sweet.. post up some more pix, move the "D" rings and the real question is, "... is fuel that much cheaper in AZ?"

I hope it came w/ its own fuel truck.

Good luck bud

Its a 5th rig for me and purely a toy.

I really just grabbed it because of the cool factor. It looks much meaner in person. Also I know the parts used in this thing and if worst came to worse I could strip it and make my money plus some back. There is also always 8500lbs of steel to recycle. lol

Anyways, I will get some pics of her up here later. Sort of want to clean her up a little first.

I dont care who built that thing, if u think it will be a better off roader than the 80 yr WRONG !. that things gota weigh 10,000lbs.
Buy it and part it out! Thats the ony way it would be worth anything.

that is one dee-lux hillbilly limo..... :hillbilly:

You need to lighten up :crybaby:.

He did not say he bought it to REPLACE an 80, he bought it as his fifth toy. He did not say it was a primary trail machine, he said he bought it as his FIFTH toy.

Its like telling a classic car collector he can have ONLY mustangs, or ONLY Mopar, or ONLY Chevys - get off it already and get over yourself.

Admit it, like it or hate it, if someone rolled into a lot with it, you would not be able to keep your eyes off of it.

Congrats on the Meat Machine purchase - now we DO expect you to be at the next levy break or hurricane disaster site in it evacuating poor American refugees...
