Good luck finding someone able to spell "carburetor", let alone work on one.
not even my motorcycles and snowmobiles have carbs. Those things are dumb glad they are extinct along with leaded gasoline, 13 inch wheels, and 8 tracks. Kinda bummed that CD players went away. Streamed music has terrible quality. Then again everyone seems to listen to podcasts and sports talk anyway. Back to shop discussions....sorry

Hey now...

You left out cassettes and FM radio.

I have a couple 8-track tape decks and a car with a Carter AVS carburetor... :moon:

Cassettes were fun. Radio sucks. I use SiriusXM satellite radio in my rigs. Too much time on the road. Most other road warriors got their brains melted by Rush Limbaugh, glad that wasn't me.

Run the 80 up a pass in 2nd gear and 4k rpms and it does alright, at least up to 6-7k in elevation.

Most people baby their 80’s and drive in the slow lane.

Cheers
I ran mine up 11000 ft elevation up in Montana, 2nd gear 4k rpm is the only way, even for the 3-FE, it did great, and yes it was fully loaded @ 6200 lbs on 37s. Ppl can do whatever the eff they want, its their choice even for those mall crawlers on 40s.

Best thing I ever did...2020 L96 with 6L90e transmission with 26K miles. L96 is a 6.0L cast iron block without DOD/AFM from the factory. As far as I can tell, 2020 was the last year for the L96. I paid a pretty penny for it, with the transmission, but it was probably still less than paying someone doing a new short block rebuild on a 1FZ-FE.

Easy to source parts for years and most mechanics can work on it.

However, I was at a local Garage the other day, and they had a rule of not working on cars made before the year 2000. I wonder how common that is...

Like it was meant to be...

That's sweet!
Is it generally easy to get an LS-swap registered with DMV and renewed and inspected annually (especially for a blue state)? Or is it a painful process? Thanks.

internet searches are easy. Here are the rules specific to your state. This is why rich d-bags register their high end toys in Montana BTW

I was worried as f**K given what people in California have to go through.

In Massachusetts it was surprisingly easy. Mass no longer does ODB II emission testing on vehicles 15 years or older. They will make sure your vehicle doesn't smoke but no actual emission testing. It is just safety inspection after 15 years. I am not even sure if the tester knew the motor wasn't original.

Yeah it's super easy in Washington. They no long do any emissions testing at all and no vehicle inspections. Do whatever you please so long as you have current registration.

A lot of mechanics don’t wanna work on a car that has an engine swap. Everything has its pearls.

Boy did this thread derail🤣😂🤪
